Catching up after last week's power loss  - Zeta knocked out all the power and internet in our area for several days.  Only one tree down and it barely touched my car with just a few little scratches.... several trees look shaky though and another one looks like it is headed this way next week.... I did do another lines page in my bible and intended to post it to **ART*JOURNAL*JOURNEY* where we were playing with lines (October prompt), but the power made me miss it. I wanted to share it because I used birthday goodies sent to me by my sweet friend Jayne and I love the colors.  Super simple: Gesso base, gesso on the music/architectural paper (from Jayne), gesso on the crayon paper (from Jayne), stamp the DRS Design pencils and water color them, slap on some more water colors and done.  Fun tuff.  Hello Crafty Friends! The Fall weather and Halloween season have me really wishing C-19 was a thing of the past.  We did go to a very small private Fall Festival this weekend (10 kids) and the grandkids loved it. Half the kids did not dress up so it didn't seem to be the same.   On the kitchen counter, I have been playing with my watercolors and trying different techniques.  The watercolor challenge on Splitcoaststampers has really helped and inspired me. My daughter's boyfriend brought us some Louisiana boudain from a recent trip, and a large bucket of peanuts (he grew them). I wanted to send him a thank you card.  Funny how this crazy card came into being.  It started life a gelli plate print.  My sweet friend Jayne loves her gelli plate and makes amazing prints with it.  I hate my gelli plate and only make prints if I have no choice.  Jayne challenged us all to make something using a technique from one of the many videos she posted....

 Hello crafty friends! Today I am sharing some recent makes. The first is a bible journaling page I did yesterday after watching THIS lovely video by AhMadArt on YouTube.  I tried both her scenes and techniques.  I didn't do the little water scene that great, but I love how my bible journaling in Psalms came out.  I definitely will try something like it again.   So fun and splattering, painting, and thinking of how God is with us, was very calming!  I am also linking this to the **Art*Journal*Journey* theme for October which is Hold the Line (Lines).  Such a fun theme that Chris chose.  Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day....

 Hello crafty friends. This year, I have made a vow to learn how to use water-colors better.  To help with that, I have been doing the new weekly challenge at splitcoaststampers.com.  Every Wednesday, there is a different technique with a video or tutorial.  I usually have to wait for the weekend due to pesky work!  Last week it was negative water-coloring.  I love it.  A quick way to get a group of flower or other items colored up and a cool look.  I know I didn't do it justice, but I like the results regardless. Here is the page I did in my Journaling Bible.  I drew the flowers using some sheets from Soft Surroundings as my inspiration.   Then I used my watercolors (my cheapest set because it is the easiest) and colored them up.  The page had some bleed thru from the page behind it, and I love how that ink caused the watercolor to take differently.  I added in some gold beads on the middle large flower for texture. ...

Hello crafty friends! This post is all about my adventures using masking tape in my journaling and I am linking it up to the **ART*JOURNAL*JOURNEY* blog where this month we are all playing with texture.  Several crafty friends have joined me in trying to learn mixed media better.  We all meet up at Splitcoaststampers.com in a monthly challenge we call MMJ.  We watch at least two videos on a technique and then try it.  We are on our 5th challenge  - masking tape.   I have lots and lots and lots of texture on these pages.  The first two have a ton of masking tape and the last has just a tiny bit (had to take some off to achieve where I was going in my head - lol).   All have a base of  5x6 Amazon Box cardboard, layered with white gesso then layers of tape (drywall tape used on the top two as well), then paint or paper or both.  I used Arteza Gouche paint and Dylusions spray on the top two.   These are going in a ring jo...

 Hello friends. I am so excited about Fall being around the corner.  When I go outside it is still hot, but I feel just a hint of the cooler weather around the corner (ok  - I know it is only in my head, but I still love that first Fall feel so much).   On the first creation, I journaled my recent spider adventure in Allie's chicken coop.  I love how fun this page is with the Tim Holtz spider web stamps and die (please ignore the typos - I am not redoing it so I am ignoring them - all my scrapbook pages from this week have at least one but I am embracing them rather than fixing them - lol).  I colored the web, spiders, and chickens with watercolors and splattered on the leftover purple.  The page is 8 1/2 by 11 as that is my favorite scrapbook page size. For extra fun, I added in some crackle medium using a chicken wire stencil which qualifies to share on **Art*Journal*Journey*.   This month we are adding texture to our journal creations...
