Alice, Flowers and a few Ghosts

Hello crafty friends. I have been watching a lot of videos and trying out new things in my mixed media journey.  I have found a few friends who have been delving in as well and this month we have encouraged each other to do altered playing cards.  We watched these videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNimFxzrTmE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_DTz233KB0&feature=youtu.be I loved Nina's Alice card and purchased the napkins she used.  I ended up with two cards as you see here.  I ussed gesso on the playing cards and put the napkins down on them.  Next, I added some texture paste and gold paint, printed off quotes, gold paint, some distressing and a fun bottle button I have had for many years. Once my cards were done, I wasn't sure what to do with them. I saw a cool open journal in the SCS Inspiration challenge and it reminded me these would look great in my new Dina Wakley Journal.  Since we are doing when it is hot in the **Art*Journal*Journ...

Projects, Grandkids, and Mixed Media Stretches

Hello crafty friends! I haven't posted in 2 weeks - a bit of missing MOJO and I wasn't feeling well.  I am feeling better now! I purchased a Dina Wakley Art Journal last week.  Love the textured papers - so different than my BAJ pages.  I went a little crazy and painted my first pages super bright!  The **Art*Journal*Journey* theme this month was selected by Erika and she picked:  When it's hot. I was inspired by that theme, these adorable pictures of my Grandson's eating watermelon, last week's MIX challenge on Splitcoaststampers.com (used found objects in your mixed media project), and THIS fun watermelon rug from the Inspiration Site Challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com. The background started with music paper and a few layers of clear and white gesso.  I painted it all pink. to match my inspiration picture, but when I compared the pictures to it, it didn't work.  So I darkened it up a bit of red paint (Arteza Gouache Color).  To fram...
