My New Obsession...

My new Obsession: Digital stamps from the Can You Digi It? Store which is having its grand opening starting this week. You should check it out because many of the artists are discounting their images and the non-digital items can be purchased for 15% off until January 27, 2012.

Can You Digi It? (C.Y.N.I.) was just started up by Michelle Single who is very active around the crafty community and on SCS. I am going to be a guest designer for awhile, and I am so excited! The C.Y.D.I. blog launches its first challenge today. It is an inspiration challenge and you can find the inspiration pictures and the rules here. The winner of the challenge will receive a $10 C.Y.D.I. store certificate.

I used my very favorite image from the store for the challenge. It was created by LilyPink Designs. I love what the artist said about it; she said it has a "slightly grungy, text-based, messy look that seems to be so hot at the moment..."

The challenge pictures are all about iPhones or iPhone based food. I am one of those late-adopters - actually, I am a late, late, late-adopter for a million reasons including: my kids take all my money so I can't afford a new expensive phone; I tried to use my daughter's iPhone and I couldn't get the screens to enlarge, slow down, or go where I wanted them to; and I don't have the time to stay in touch enough to justify an iPhone (hello, I post on Facebook like once a month). So I have to just dream about a day when I get more money, more time, and more coordination. LOL! Are you suppose to have an inspiration card that requires that much explanation? Oh well..

Here is a quick way for you to check out the digital image and other items I used from the store:

Other products I used include:
Paper: SU! Almost Navy, Whisper White, and Bashful Blue cardstock; The Paper Studio (the blue paper) and 7gypsies Conservatory (the paper with the script) dp
Ink: My printer ink, SU! Bashful Blue and Chocolate Chip, and Prima red colored pencil
Ribbon: SU! Seam Binding
Other: SU! Faux Sewing Kit, Black Marker, The Paper Studio pearls, SB dies (oval and scalloped oval), MS punch, a strip of paper towel, and a pin I won at Card Club two weeks ago (thanks Kelly!)

Techniques used: Stampscapes torn paper towel technique
(thanks for the link Pat), fake sewing since my $10 machine broke, sponging (lots of it around the image and I totally changed the color of the middle strip of 7Gypsies paper), and distressing

Check here or the C.Y.D.I. blog tommorrow to see that else Michelle has come up with - I promise it will be awesome.

Hugz to all!
Nancy

  4. That's a beauty, Nancy! I love what you did with that digi image. iPhone? Are you kidding me? I've barely jumped into the 1990s with my clunky flip phone cell. Does me just fine!

Stamps, Books, Found Relatives, and More Food

Don't you love getting new stuff?  This is my fun new stuff from  Red Lead Paperworks .   I ordered the fun vintage looking deer stamp and the three Christmas greetings - all were on sale a few weeks ago.  I love getting their packages because they always send some extra little goodies like collage sheets and old tickets plus even their packaging is cute and reusable.  The sheet with the leaves and acorns on the bottom is the other side of the invoice so you can reuse it as well.  I can't wait to play with these fun goodies.  Here is a look at my current reading pile.  I checked Basil's War by Stephen Hunter from the library, my daughter lent me The Paper Palace, and I bought The Host, Going Back to Petrey, and The Lady in Blue from the Thrift Store. I am reading Basil's War and The Lady in Blue at the same time - something I really shouldn't do especially since both books are the kind that switch between stories every chapter.  Th...

Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Please join us in the Pattie's Creations Tag Challenge - there are lovely DT tags for inspiration and Pattie gives away wonderful prizes! Hugz!
