Dotty Peacock Haute Couture

Dotty Peacock Haute Couture

Don't you love when the stars all align? Like when you make the cutest cake ever, find a wonderful new coffee to try, and clean your house - then someone drops by unexpectedly and your house looks spotless AND you impress them with your cake and coffee? Nah, that never happened to me either, but I was able to make a card that fit three of my fav challenges!

The newest Can You Digi It? challenge is all about peacocks (the colors, the feathers, the beauty). Be sure and check it out because there is a chance to win a $10 store certificate. I used the Chic Dress & Frame digi from LilyPink Designs which you can purchase at Can You Digi It? I love LilyPink Designs - I sure hope Dawn doesn't think I have become a stalker or something since I use them soo much! LOL!. I also used these great crystals from the Ziva Creative Crystal Wheel that you can get from Can You Digi It? - the best thing is you get a ton of crystals in beautiful colors for only $3.50!!! I also used some K&Co designer paper, SU! card stock, SU! Ink for sponging the dress and the cardstock, Prima Flowers, and a peacock feather from my friend Jacoria (thanks Jacoria!!!!). I popped the dress up after sponging it and adding lots of crystals.

The latest Freshly Brewed Weekly Challenge (FBC88) is called Lots and Lots of Dots. The challenge is to use dots on your card (Cindy, are you reading this - they are speaking to you!). I love me some dots so that was not a problem. I had dots on my K&Co paper, but since they were kind of oval in shape, I added some Ranger Diamond Stickles to every oval so there would be round dots too. Plus I had all those round Crystal dots - they count don't they?

This week's Teapot Tuesday Challenge has the Sisterhood of the Traveling Teaparty going to France. I really don't think France is ready for 42,000 teapotters, but c'est la vie! The challenge involves things you would see in France so I opted for the haute couture option - I heard there are cookies at some of the fashion shows so I am a crashing them!!! If you are unfamilar with the Teapot Tuesday Challenge, you need to check it out here. Where else to you get to make cards and live briefly in a make-believe world where 42,000 women can take on anything from giant lady bugs to the Queen of England.

Hope you week is off to a good start! Hugz!!!

  1. The colours and feathers are so striking. This card really shines. How true is your opening statement, this never happens. It's only when you are out of milk and there is mess that someone will call in.

  5. You are TOO funny, Nancy! Loved the story in your opening paragraph. Nah, it never happened to me, either!! (but it's fun to dream about!)

LOVE this elegant card--that peacock feather is the bee's knees. And look how fancy your color gradient dress is. BEAUTIFUL!

  6. You're funny! You had me going there, about your house and dress and coffee. :)

The dress on this peacock card is SUPER pretty! Glad you told me about these challenges, too. Don't know if I'll have time to readjust my post, though. Today is commenting day!

I was thinking today about you, and the card I received from you yesterday. I actually LIKE that I received it late...it's a beautiful surprise, happy mail of the finest kind!

  7. Great card, and you really had me with the schtick in the beginning...was almost
thinking you were perfect....good to find out your just like the rest of us. It would more likely go like...I got busy in my craftroom and didn't clean up the house and had
no groceries in, and an old friend popped in unannounced.......

  8. Ooh, la, la...what a pretty dress..love the added crystals.

Oh, you scared me about how everything was perfect at your house. I was feeling ashamed for a bit. So glad to hear none of that was real life. LOL You've been with those 42,000 women too long....it has caused you to hallucinate. Well, head on out to the fashion show and have some cookies. Hey, didn't I read you were dieting? Caught!!!!! Put that cookie down.

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day.  The paper in the middle is from the Stamperia Forest

A Martini, Peanut Butter Cupakes, and Art

Hello Friends. Today, I have an ecletic mix of drinks, dessert, and art. First, it's T-day somewhere in the world so time for a drink post which I am linking to Elizabeth's Blog - Altered Book Lover.  Last week we had a work related dinner.  When the waitress asked what I wanted to drink, I had a sudden craving for a martini.  I use to love them, but I guess my tastes have changed because I wasn't a fan.  I was a fan of the chips and dips though! And the day before, I brought my Sister's fabulous peanut butter cupcakes.  Mainly because I was craving them and couldn't ask her to make just one..... Over at **Art*Journal*Journey* Elle picked a theme of Books, Cats, and Tea (you can pick one, two or three of the items).  I did a Bible Journal Page in my Journaling Bible - Luke 13:24-25.  After a layer of Gesso, I took a Sharpie pen and drew the kitty, then the narrow door, and then colored the door with Arteza Brush pens. The verse was written with a Micron pen.  This

Milkshake Malt Porter and a Bit of Art

Hello friends and Happy T-day. It has been hit or miss with me lately on T-day posts. The remodel of our house next door has taken our mental and physical energy.  I think a few more weeks and things will be on the contractor instead of us.  Hopefully I will be back to normal by then. My Oldest Darling Daughter asked if we wanted to come for dinner Saturday.  Translation:  go to the store with me and we will bring part of dinner to your house and you cook the rest.  While at the store, I saw one 6 pack of this fun milkshake porter so, of course, I bought it.  It smells wonderful (a hint of chocolate and a hit of malt) and has a light creamy taste.  I would definitely buy it again if I see it.  My son-in-law did not like it, but he is more a  Miller Lite fan.  Now if this had been a whiskey, he would have been all over it.  LOL.  Linking this to Elizabeth's blog for the T-party gang. Darling Daughter had tried her hand at dried pintos, and she rocked them (I will begging for a rep
