A Lamp

This card is for the Haunted Design House Challenge HDH132. The challenge is to take a cute little image and make it over into something dark and scary looking. Ok, I love horror and scary stuff, but this was a super challenge for me for some reason. I finally ended up taking my new digi lamp image from Can You Digi It? (designed by Dana's Digital Cafe)and made it look scary. At least I hope I made it look scary with my dark colors, use of blood red Stickles, and my sponging with black and brown. I added a scary sentiment too. I haven't completed the inside yet, but I am leaning toward a Bible Verse about Christ being the light. I think that would make this sort of scary looking card into something really inspirational. Anyway, I tried hard to do this challenge since it was so challenging for me. It was also sooo fun. It reminds me of something that would be in Dark Shadows - I am so looking forward to that movie. What could be cooler than Johnny and Dark Shadows. I loved that show when I was a kid (yes, I was a kid when it was on and I didn't even have to watch the reruns - that is what is really scary), and Johnny...well, need I say more?? I am so hoping Lily at Octopode Factory comes up with a Dark Shadows set - wouldn't that be fun?

Hugz to all!

  4. Yes, I'm afraid of the dark.....really I am! I am such a scaredy cat over everything. I could be scared looking at this card. Good job with that lamp. Did you know the real Barnabas Collins/Jonathan Frid died recently? Bet you did. I bet you'll be one of the first to view the new Dark Shadows. :-)

  15. Nutzi: The inside of your card should say this:
There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone

hahaha That is what came to mind when I saw you card. Oooo I love the twilight zone and give me that falling elevator ride at MGM studios at Disney any day of the week. How fun and fabulous. Love that lamp shade image. So creative.

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day....

Dreams of Fall, Numbers, and a Cool Drink

I hate to admit it, but I am already looking forward to Fall!  That is also the theme for this House Mouse card I finished up today. I stamped this 2009 Turning Over a New Leaf (Monica) image on the envelope too because the current House Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge #392 theme is decorate your envelope too.  On the card, I stamped the image, popped up some of the leaves and drew in some branches.  The background and leaves are watercolored with DOX ink.  Monica is colored with pencils and watercolor.   I sure wished it was Fall on Saturday when we were watching our youngest grandson at the 6U All Star State Championship. It was very hot. His team lost in the semi-finals. We were very proud of how hard they played. Speaking of baseball, I did two pages on our two All-Stars. I am linking them up to the Numbers theme at **Art*Journal*Journey* .  I have numbers in the journaling and there are numbers on their jerseys.   The All Stars cap ...

Halloween Lunch Pictures and Some Art

Happy T-day! Our favorite local restaurant is Fox's Pizza Den where they have great pizza, sandwiches, pasta and salads. They also have a Bourbon Bar.  Prices range from $7 to almost $1,000 on the bourbon and bourbon drinks.   Each holiday, the bourbon bar comes up with fun holiday themed drinks and they decorate the bar too.  A few weeks ago, we headed there for lunch and to try one of the new drinks.  Here is the holiday drink menu and my tickets to T-day over at Elizabeth's Blog where we share our fun drink related items from the week.  Of course, my daughter loves vampire books and movies so she picked the blood bag. I go more for taste so I got the Meet Your Maker - it was wonderful.   We shared a pizza and a salad.  I forgot to take a picture of the pizza, but I did get one of the salad. It had grilled chicken and potato wedges - super fun.  They make their ranch dressing on site and it is wonderful.  My husband has been know...
