CYDI? Where's The Color Challenge

The new challenge at Can You Digi It? blog is Where is the Color? The inspirational photos are black and white with a hint of color, and they are very inspiring. I chose the LilyPink Designs Emma and Edward at Sea image which is available in the store.

I printed the image once on Grey paper from Mark's Finest Papers and then again on Whisper White from SU!. I fussy cut the sails and the people so that I could lightly sponge them and add texture to the sails (I rolled the stylus on the back of the paper in little circles). I did add a touch of color with Red Stickles on the heart at the top of the sail. Since there was only a little sparkle on the heart, I added some Crystal Stickles to Emma's Shirt and some Rock Candy Distress Stickles to the fish (you can get the Rock Candy Stickles in the CYDI? store here). I made the fluffy clouds and sea foam with a snow writer.

My sentiment was a freebie off the Tiddly Inks Blog and the little fishie is part of a Fresh Brewed Designs set (Huckleberry Pie goes Fishing).

You don't have to use an image from CYDI? to enter the challenge so consider dropping by the blog and checking it out!

Hugz,

Nancy

  13. I scrolled through several of your wonderful posts and decided to leave my comment here since we're going to be working together at CYDI. :-) You did an awesome job on this card. Monochromatic cards are really tough for me but you aced this one. I saw Roll Tide on one of your purses. If you're from AL we're neighbors since I live in MS. :-) Looking forward to working with you Nancy. Thanks for you visit and comment on my blog. Hugs!

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day....

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Please join us in the Pattie's Creations Tag Challenge - there are lovely DT tags for inspiration and Pattie gives away wonderful prizes! Hugz!

Bear-ied In Paperwork

Back again, with a card for this week's House Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge ( HMFMC#424 ).  This week the challenge is Anything goes with the option of scraps of paper. I took the option literally and added scraps of paper on my kitchen counter.  I needed a thank you card for someone who has been helping us organize A LOT of papers.   I stamped the image (House Mouse Gruffies Bear-ied in Paperwork -2007) using CTMH Black, then coloring the image with Daniel Smith Watercolors.  I drew in an extra paper or two so that I could make one of them a Thank You paper - it is the top right and shaded pink.  Thanks for visiting, Nancy
