Some Fun Cards Made with Crystal

This weekend my oldest daughter Crystal hung out with me as her husband was getting a diving certification and it was my birthday weekend. We went shopping, ate too much, and made cards together. She is so fun to make cards with - she gives me lots of good advice and helps a lot! Here are some of the cards we made:

We made this for the Featured Stamper Challenge on SCS - we cased THIS lovely card by stampwithKristine. The image is by Cheryl Alger (Sassy Cheryl) and is called Jump, Snowman Jump. You can get the image from Squigglefly or Sassy Cheryl's Store. The paper is from Authenique and the gold balls where purchased at Dollar Tree.

This image is called Just Be Yourself by Cheryl Alger (Sassy Cheryl) and is available at Squigglefly and Sassy Cheryl's store. I am entering this in the Sassy Cheryl's Challenge this week which is Give Thanks. There is also a little time left in the Squigglefly Thankful for you challenge if you are interested in that one - HERE is the link.

The last card I have is this one and we made it with a Tim Holtz bird cage die that Crystal gave me for by birthday:

I am entering it in the Crazy4Challenges challenge CFC210 - Its not all black and white. This was a fun one to make and we patterned it after THIS card shape by one of my blogging buddies, Nic. She comes up with some of the best card shapes! I promise the paper looks grey/black in person and not purple - not sure what happened with the lighting!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend too! Hugz!

  1. Beautiful cards Nancy! I especially love your first one - the colors are so unusual for a snowman card and that textured piece behind the image is so different. It looks like you had a nice time being creative!

  5. Nancy,
I just got back on to ask you where you got the beautiful little gold balls - but then I reread your commentary and it says Dollar Tree. We don't have a Dollar Tree - but we do have a Dollar General - I am keeping my fingers crossed that they have the beautiful balls - thanks for sharing the information. Kathy

  9. Happy Birthday Nancy. Looks like you had a creative one. I can imagine the fun you and your daughter had this weekend. I love that jumping snowman. He looks like he is on a serving plate. The background of honeycomb is awesome. I have to agree with you on Nic. She is really talented. Lucky you on the birdcage die. It is awesome too.

  11. You and your daughter make a terrific card making team. That is so nice that you two have that same "crafty" interest. I really like all three cards each one so unique, but I have to say that first snowman card is sticking with me. It is such a precious image and the way you've surrounded him with gold tones, it really is amazingly beautiful. Enjoy your week.

  20. These are all just fabulous but my favorite is the snowman. It's so carefree and fun. I took out all my Christmas Bears and Snowmen today....geez I can hardly move...lol It will take me 3 days straight from morning until night to decorate for Christmas. That is if I can move tomorrow....lol I can definitely tell that Crystal had an influence on the last card because of the colors.....it came out spectacular. Love that bird cage. Wish I was there to play along with you two!!!!
    Bear Hugs,

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Please join us in the Pattie's Creations Tag Challenge - there are lovely DT tags for inspiration and Pattie gives away wonderful prizes! Hugz!

Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

A Covered Bridge, a Shotgun Wedding, Patton Wisdom, and Some Art

On our recent vaction, hubby and I got back to our historical marker seeking.  This time we visited the Clarkson Covered Bridge. It is super long and very cool.  We also found a website HERE that has a mapped out tour of Alabama where you can visit 7 in one day - a fun trip for a Fall weekend.  This is the only picture I took of the bridge. The day before, we visited the Patton Musuem at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and viewed Ft. Knox from as close as they will let you get. They say there is still a ton of gold in Ft. Knox - trillions of dollars worth.  We liked the Patton Museum.  I don't agree with most of Patton's management style, but do respect that he accomplished much.  I was impressed with some of his leadership statements like this one which I totally agree with: They have some fabulous items at the museum - hubby could have looked for hours and hours if I had let him. They have planes, tanks, and other vehicles there too so you can see exactly what ...
