Wishing I was at the Beach

The new DRS Designs Challenge is Life Is A Beach!  Cards and Creations that are all about the beach or have beach themed additions. These days, I am really craving some beach time - time at a very remote beach with no people and a nice early morning or late evening walk.  The crashing wave sounds coming through the window at night. The kind of beach trip that restores your balance.  Since that is what I want, my card has a peaceful deserted beach and soft colors. I sponged on distress inks, drew on some little waves with a white gel pen,, then splashed on some white chalk paint on the shoreline.  Next, I stamped the DRS Designs Sitting Thinking Greeting and the Adirondack Chair (fussy cut and adhered it). I love beach cards - hope you will join us in this challenge. Hugz

Memories of Sara

Sad news on this post so grab a tissue.  My Mother, Sara Hodge, passed away Saturday morning.  I was able to be there at her side, and I am so thankful.  She isn't suffering anymore and no longer has to fear a painful death from cancer.  We were lucky enough to have her 3.5 years after her stage 4 diagnosis.  She had a wonderful life and she was such a positive and Christian person so I know she is happy and in heaven. The funeral is tomorrow so I wanted to do something a little different as a memorial to her.  I pinned THIS wonderful art collage by Linda Cain and studied it in detail.  I thought it would be great to use pieces of my Mother's life on a collage and then add some pictures from her life. My Sister, Sharon, and my Daughter, Crystal, helped on this project. So we went to her craft desk and gathered up all the little scraps and things she was using to make the last card she was going to send.  We also grabbed some thread, flowers...

Under the Sea Shaker

I have been practicing some shaker cards.  I have developed a love/hate relationship with them.  I have thrown away more than I have kept, but I think I am starting to get the hang of them.   This one has some issues, but I love how the sponging and stamping came out.  I did it for several challenges on Splitcoast Stampers.  All the images are from SU! and all the inks are Distress and Archival plus a bit of SU! Hope your week is going well - mine isn't going to well.  My Mom is very sick - please fit her into your prayers. Hugz!

Patriotic Camo

The new challenge at DRS Designs is the Camouflage technique - so fun!!! I used the DRS Designs Give Thanks Bible Verse stamp, some star dies MFT), and watercolor paints - so easy.  This DRS stamp works for so many situations:  Bible Journaling, Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, 4th of July, and thank you cards. Hope you will play along with us and make a camo card as well.  You totally need to check out the other DT cards - they are awesome! Hugz
