A Fussy Cutting Adventure

Hello friends,

This past weekend, I made myself stay at home to knock out a sinus infection.  I got in some naps, but also a little relaxing crafting time.  I find fussy cutting really relaxes me because I have to focus on the image and nothing else - no worrying about anyone or anything other than not cutting through the image.  This creation was a lot of fussy cutting but it was really relaxing and lots of fun to see it come together:

To make this card, I stamped the DRS Open Leaf Branch image ($5 to $10 in the store depending on your mount style).  I stamped the image 30 times, colored them with Arteza Brush pens, and then fussy cut them (each branch has a lot of little branches so I cut them off individually).  To get the square wreath shape, I cut a square and then but out the middle so that I had a thin frame to arrange the leaves. 

I thought the background should stay white to really make the wreath pop,  I embossed the top panel to look like shiplap (I am a big fan of shiplap and I am planning on doing a room in it soon).

To finish it off, I stamped the Love You to the Moon greeting ($3.75 unmounted) and cut the 'love you' portion out. 

I love how this came out, and it looks even better IRL.

    Wow Nancy, what a feat to fussy cut all those leaves, I love the frame you made with them.

    This is fabulous Nancy, so much super fussy cutting - I find fussy cutting really relaxing as well.

    You must be extremely serene and relaxed after all that fussy cutting! I enjoy it too, but you've got me beat for sure! This is wonderful and I hope you're feeling better now!

    What a fabulous job. I like to fussy cut too...but that may be too much for me. So I really admire what you did here. The leaves look like they are real.

Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

 I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

A Covered Bridge, a Shotgun Wedding, Patton Wisdom, and Some Art

 On our recent vaction, hubby and I got back to our historical marker seeking.  This time we visited the Clarkson Covered Bridge. It is super long and very cool.  We also found a website HERE that has a mapped out tour of Alabama where you can visit 7 in one day - a fun trip for a Fall weekend.  This is the only picture I took of the bridge. The day before, we visited the Patton Musuem at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and viewed Ft. Knox from as close as they will let you get. They say there is still a ton of gold in Ft. Knox - trillions of dollars worth.  We liked the Patton Museum.  I don't agree with most of Patton's management style, but do respect that he accomplished much.  I was impressed with some of his leadership statements like this one which I totally agree with: They have some fabulous items at the museum - hubby could have looked for hours and hours if I had let him.
