Acrylic Block Fun

Last night, I had a little time so I played in the Splitcoaststampers.com technique challenge. The challenge is coloring an image with your acrylic block.  You actually place your acrylic block on top of an acrylic block with your image and color over it. Then you mist it lightly and then stamp it over your previously stamped image.

I struggled with it because I was too lazy to get my watercolor markers.  After I finished up, I swiped my acrylic block with ink, splashed on some water and then pressed it onto the paper as well.  I did that with three colors.  I covered up most of my issues.  Fun!

The image is from the To a Wild Rose SU! set and the sentiment is from IO and designed by Dina Kowal.  I love that sentiment.

I had another Dina sentiment and the SU! leaves out so I made another card by just stamping all around an ink, spray, smash bg.
I used this same sentiment on a card this weekend for the SCS Inspiration Challenge:

I sponged the mountains and added some pine needles to the side and snowtex to the top.

Hope you are all doing well.  Thanks for dropping by!

  4. Hello lovely Nancy, your cards are always as nice as you are. All three are awesome and I honestly could not pick one. The leaves look so real, the sentiments are so positive and full of strength, the shades of pink look becoming and these cards are super.

    Lots of love,

Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

Stamps, Books, Found Relatives, and More Food

Don't you love getting new stuff?  This is my fun new stuff from  Red Lead Paperworks .   I ordered the fun vintage looking deer stamp and the three Christmas greetings - all were on sale a few weeks ago.  I love getting their packages because they always send some extra little goodies like collage sheets and old tickets plus even their packaging is cute and reusable.  The sheet with the leaves and acorns on the bottom is the other side of the invoice so you can reuse it as well.  I can't wait to play with these fun goodies.  Here is a look at my current reading pile.  I checked Basil's War by Stephen Hunter from the library, my daughter lent me The Paper Palace, and I bought The Host, Going Back to Petrey, and The Lady in Blue from the Thrift Store. I am reading Basil's War and The Lady in Blue at the same time - something I really shouldn't do especially since both books are the kind that switch between stories every chapter.  Th...

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Please join us in the Pattie's Creations Tag Challenge - there are lovely DT tags for inspiration and Pattie gives away wonderful prizes! Hugz!
