More Experiments

Hello friends.

I pray that things near and dear to you are going well. We still haven't had any confirmed cases of Covid19 in our circle, but I think that is about to change soon with things accelerating fast.

If you are like me, you are hearing all kinds of things and don't know what to believe. I did learn this week that there are two strains (HERE is the article I read). Most articles I read said that the L type was more aggressive, but there is debate on that. I have learned that being over 60 increases your risk of death or major complications if you contract the virus and that rises at 70 and again at 80. Many articles defined 60 as elderly. Wow. I was leaning toward 60 as the new 50!

I try to limit myself to 1 hour of reading and listening to news a day, but I think I might scale that back to 30 minutes.

The good news is that our wonderful company is going to have our office working from home by the end of the week. That will add almost 2 hours to my day as I will get to cut out my commute. Everyone is super excited. It will be a challenge though.

I did a few new bible journal pages the last few days. I have green so I am linking up to my favorite challenge: **Art*Journal*Journey*.

I have been experimenting a bit more after being inspired by all the very talented journaling artists I have been visiting. I bought some Dina Wakley paints and of course played with them right away. I used one of her smaller collage gals too.

The rain drop stencil (I used it for tears) is from Prima, and I don't know who made the plaid one. I also added in some watercolors to her face.

Psalm 39 is about the fleeting nature of life...we are temporary residents like our ancestors...our days are just inches long... wow - I so wish I had added my ruler stamp to this now! I think I am going to go find it and add it in.

My next one is my St. Pat's play day creation. I used the DRS Designs Script Font Background, and one of the shamrocks from the Silhouette Shamrock Field. The ABC stencil is from Magenta. I experimented with misting the shamrock before stamping - the blobs are the result. I think my gesso wasn't dry enough.

Psalm 66 - Praise for God's mighty acts - I am definitely praying for some acts now - some positive ones.

My last experiment was in extending the Tim Holtz sun ray stencil. I stenciled it around the Magenta butterfly stencil, and then I took each ray and isolated it to extend it out - it worked well. It was a perfect match to Psalm 50 which starts out about the radiance of our God and that he is coming. It moves on to discuss the need for major respect for and honor for God as He is so more more than us. This Psalm has some good lessons for us to take heed of - especially now. I think I may need to read this one more often. I used the DRS Designs Script Font background on this one too but I stamped it in green. I added the DRS Designs Brush Pussy Willows at the bottom as well.

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme. This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible. When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa. There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here. The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH). The gnome is CTMH as well. Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving. It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

A Covered Bridge, a Shotgun Wedding, Patton Wisdom, and Some Art

On our recent vaction, hubby and I got back to our historical marker seeking. This time we visited the Clarkson Covered Bridge. It is super long and very cool. We also found a website HERE that has a mapped out tour of Alabama where you can visit 7 in one day - a fun trip for a Fall weekend. This is the only picture I took of the bridge. The day before, we visited the Patton Musuem at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and viewed Ft. Knox from as close as they will let you get. They say there is still a ton of gold in Ft. Knox - trillions of dollars worth. We liked the Patton Museum. I don't agree with most of Patton's management style, but do respect that he accomplished much. I was impressed with some of his leadership statements like this one which I totally agree with: They have some fabulous items at the museum - hubby could have looked for hours and hours if I had let him. They have planes, tanks, and other vehicles there too so you can see exactly what ...

It's a very difficult time just now for us all, we must really try hard to stay positive. I'm glad you are having fun with art journaling, it's a good way of sorting feelings and calming down. Beautiful meaningful pages, Nancy. The first one is quite different from the others. It's very severe and intense looking - perfect for this intense psalm.

The two bottom pages are lovely, light and airy. I love how you extended the ray stencil. Great effect. I have that stencil and will definitely use this idea.

Wonderful pages Nancy. I really like them, especially the face with those tears. Thanks for linking up to AJJ. And I get all squirmy when they call 60 elderly. I just turned 60 and I don't feel (or look) elderly. I may look older than I did at 50, but...maybe I am just not ready to be in that next age bracket. Smile. Stay healthy. Hugs-Erika

I love how you have coloured that face in, something I have never done but always longed to - maybe now I should try as I think I have those stamps. Yours is wonderful and the whole page is, as are the others. I especially like the butterflies, they are almost translucent.

These are such pretty and thought-provoking journal pages, and I love how you colored the face! I limit tv news to 30 minutes at night and nothing more beyond that. It's the only way I can function without being frightened out of my wits.
