Tired Eyes, Morning Joy, and Green

Early March always disappoints me.  I think it should feel like Spring, but it doesn't.  There are some signs of Spring though.  Some little flowers are popping up and my allergies have started up.  My eyes were bothering me last week, and then I found some great drops that helped.  That was until I realized one night that I was out of contact lens solution.  I used distilled water and that was not a good substitute - it bothered my eyes even more that day.  Then a few sleepless nights for some reason.  My poor eyes felt terrible (they are better now that I caught up on my sleep). 

I told you all this about my eyes because guess what Psalm was next in my BAJ Sunday? Psalm 31. So I focused on verse 9.  Scripture always seems to jump out and work at just the right time.
I had drawn the girl a few weeks ago just doodling while waiting on something and she worked perfectly for this scripture.  Also my Grandson Lewis had glued some papers together and did a little glitter work - I used those papers for my background as well.  The colors were inspired by THESE BOOKS made by this week's featured stamper at Splitcoaststampers.com, Maura Hibbits who is a design team member at DecoArt and extremely talented. 

Maura's orange-y book also inspired the sister page to this one - her stenciled clock reminded me of sun rays.

Since I have been doing more mixed media BAJ and found **ART*JOURNAL*JOURNEY*, I was so excited to see the theme for March.  It is green.  My very favorite color.  I had to do a page before bed last night so I could participate and I am linking up to the challenge.  Since it was right before bed, it had to be simple.  I has a happy feel which works well with verse 36:5. 
Lord, your faithful love reaches to heaven, your faithfulness to the clouds.  Actually, if you think about it, His faithfulness reaches to heave as well, but David's words are prettier.  He was such a great writer.  We could have used his help with Allie's research paper this weekend.  He could have helped with some awesome revisioning.  The base is an ink/spray/smash technique.  I lightly pounced on some white acrylic paint to soften it.  Then I added theTim Holtz bunny die cut and stamped some Four Flower Background foliage from DRS Designs.  Since the verse talks about the clouds, I did a lot of texture paste stenciled clouds.  The Give Thanks is from the Give Thanks Bible Verse also from DRS.

    Both pages are wonderful. I especially like how you have let the words of the Psalmist speak for you. I can relate to your eye problems, as I have had many eye operations and always have some sort of problems. But I can still see, that's the main thing.     I apologize for taking so long to visit. I had trouble keeping my internet going. I'm definitely trying to play catch up right now.

    You always make me smile when you combine your BAJ with mixed media. The red and gold pages are sensational and filled with lots of great composition. The page you created for Eileen's theme at Art Journal Journey is spectacular. I love the stamping, the bunny, and the clouds. Thanks for sharing this beauty with us at AJJ.

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

 I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

A Covered Bridge, a Shotgun Wedding, Patton Wisdom, and Some Art

 On our recent vaction, hubby and I got back to our historical marker seeking.  This time we visited the Clarkson Covered Bridge. It is super long and very cool.  We also found a website HERE that has a mapped out tour of Alabama where you can visit 7 in one day - a fun trip for a Fall weekend.  This is the only picture I took of the bridge. The day before, we visited the Patton Musuem at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and viewed Ft. Knox from as close as they will let you get. They say there is still a ton of gold in Ft. Knox - trillions of dollars worth.  We liked the Patton Museum.  I don't agree with most of Patton's management style, but do respect that he accomplished much.  I was impressed with some of his leadership statements like this one which I totally agree with: They have some fabulous items at the museum - hubby could have looked for hours and hours if I had let him.
