Fish, Bacon and the Beach

I actually ventured out this weekend.  I wore my mask and hit the smoothie drive thru with my youngest daughter.  We also went to the grocery store and actually went inside.  I have been doing the curbside pickup, but just had to get out.  First "outing" since March 19th, and I have to say it was very nice and much needed.

I have been crafting away to keep my sanity.

I made this detailed wreath card for last week's SCS Inspiration challenge and to show off the lovely 3 in 1 Ocean Floor image at DRS Designs.  THIS was my inspiration.  I did an ink/spray/smash pap and stamped the image all over.  Fussy cut everything and formed it into a wreath.  A few gems and it was done.  Ink/spray/smash bg on the base as well.
I made a matching BAJ page with the leftovers and an inked up and water spritzed stencil.
I did a few more beach themed creations as well.

I drew this one and painted with water-colors (Pencils).  It is going off to cheer up a lovely lady who loves Mazatlan and is facing some major health issues.  The sentiment and shell are SU!
Had the shell images out and did another card and BAJ.
The angel is the REDlead Destiny angel stencil.
I saw a fun image on my youngest daughter's Facebook this week.  She loves making current pictures look vintage and she loves Cher.  I made her this card to give her sweetie. It was inspired by THIS travel clock from A Cottage in the City.
This morning I was feeling a bit hungry when I made m Sunday Morning Featured Stamper card so it is all about some bacon!  I cased THIS card by Chris (fargets on Splitcoaststampers.com).  The base is some acrylic paint and water color covered in several layers of heated Glossy Gel Medium.  The sentiment is by Funny Bones (Riley &Co).
Hope you are all doing well and staying safe! Thanks for visiting!!!

Nancy

  1. Gorgeous artwork, all of it, but I wish you hadn't mentioned bacon. My remaining brain cells are now in free fall because they're craving bacon, and I don't have any at home....Glad you ventured out. Have a good week, stay safe, hugs, Valerie

  2. Nancy I love all your beach and ocean themed art. It makes me think of summer. I like them all but wreath of fish is really great. But I have to say you really outdid yourself with the bacon card. It sure looks like the real thing! Hope you're having a super long weekend. Hugs-Erika

  6. That wreath card is sensational - so much dimension and detail - and I just adore the sand dollar page and card. The colours are so light and airy, like a sunny day at the beach - and really beautiful spatter adding movement to the page. What a great post - and what a great post title... it made me laugh!

  7. What wonderful art. Your fish look fab and I love the beachy theme, with the sand dollar. I also love your hand drawn card - very talented. The verse reminds me of Psalm 40 - he lifted me up out of the pit and of the miry clay... always more memorable because of the U2 song! Wonderful art.
    God bless.

Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

Stamps, Books, Found Relatives, and More Food

Don't you love getting new stuff?  This is my fun new stuff from  Red Lead Paperworks .   I ordered the fun vintage looking deer stamp and the three Christmas greetings - all were on sale a few weeks ago.  I love getting their packages because they always send some extra little goodies like collage sheets and old tickets plus even their packaging is cute and reusable.  The sheet with the leaves and acorns on the bottom is the other side of the invoice so you can reuse it as well.  I can't wait to play with these fun goodies.  Here is a look at my current reading pile.  I checked Basil's War by Stephen Hunter from the library, my daughter lent me The Paper Palace, and I bought The Host, Going Back to Petrey, and The Lady in Blue from the Thrift Store. I am reading Basil's War and The Lady in Blue at the same time - something I really shouldn't do especially since both books are the kind that switch between stories every chapter.  Th...

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Please join us in the Pattie's Creations Tag Challenge - there are lovely DT tags for inspiration and Pattie gives away wonderful prizes! Hugz!
