Fish, Tea, and Some Cards

The **Art*Journal*Journey* theme for August (can you believe it is August already?) is Pockets and Tags and was chosen by Alison AKA Craftytrog.

I was inspired by the theme to make two journal pages this weekend.  My first one is made with a wine bottle covering.  The covering was loose rather than glued on the bottle and encouraged cooking with several recipes  I cut it down and glued it down in my Dina Wakley Journal.  I added a few fish from the leftover covering and used gesso to glue them down.  Next, I stamped a few fish and added them in too.

The tag is a cover sheet from my Sprocket film that I cut in a tag shape.  I stamped it with a DRS Designs greeting (Go With the Flow Follow Your Heart) along with one fish cut in half.

I raided hubby's tackle box for the tag and hooked it to that wonderful fish in the corner.
Next, I wanted to make a pocket for a tag to cover the full theme. I used some papers from Stamperia's Alice paper pack to match the Alice page from a week+ back.  I didn't want to overdo the Alice theme, so my tag is done using a page torn out of a love story note book, a Tim Holtz doll, and some other little details.  I added a bit of tea for the edges to match up with the Alice page.
Here is a card I made for today's Featured Stamper Challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com.  I cased THIS card by Lisa Foster who is the featured stamper.  The background is made using Cling Wrap and watercolors on watercolor paper.  The flowers and girl were too - I doodled them.  The fence is made from some Amazon box cardboard painted with white gesso.
This next card is was made for a Splitcoaststampers.com water park challenge.  I didn't have any water park images, but I found this great picture in one of my garage sale find books. The Muah stamp is from Stampabilities.
Thanks for visiting!!!

Nancy

  4. You never cease to amaze me with your incredible art and mixed media. That label was awesome and the tag was perfect. The Alice page was beautiful. I love the pocket as well as the tag. You are gifted.

The two cards are unbelievable. The fence is so very well done. I think you have a genuine gift and should be making art to sell. Thanks so much for joining us at Art Journal Journey and I'm personally looking forward to more tags and pockets from you this month.

  6. Hi Nancy, so much beauty on your post again. The positive words on the journal page are so lovely. Much needed today and always. The second creation is cool with actual tea and not a distress ink. Lol. The card with the daisies and the fence are so realistic. The fence, OMG!!! You must have worked so hard to produce that effect. The girl is the cutest on this card.
The last card is adorable and honestly edible.
You rock and so do your cards,

  8. Super journal pages and cards Nancy. They are all fabulous but my favourite has to be the card with the little girl peeping out from behind the fence that you made with packaging - lots of great techniques.

  11. Ooh, I love the background page with all the fishes on - what a super background you have made it into. On my journey through your post I next came to the pocket and what a fabulous pocket it is. I can imagine there are still lots of things inside that we don't know about - it hides treasure!
Love the cards and I think the corrugated card used for the fencing is a very inspired idea - well done!

  15. I like your fishy page a lot and the blue fishy tag is just right there.
I love the tea-time page too with the lovely subtle colours and the man popping out of the pocket (haha! I'm just his type - he says).
Your two next cards are pretty amazing too. The girl and the flowers painted and cut out are wonderful - what a clever idea and the fence is great too. I collect this corrugated card, no idea why, I always think I'll find a good use for it and you have.
The last card is just fun and happy.
I enjoyed and admired this blogpost and have visited it a couple of times.

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day.  The paper in the middle is from the Stamperia Forest

A Martini, Peanut Butter Cupakes, and Art

Hello Friends. Today, I have an ecletic mix of drinks, dessert, and art. First, it's T-day somewhere in the world so time for a drink post which I am linking to Elizabeth's Blog - Altered Book Lover.  Last week we had a work related dinner.  When the waitress asked what I wanted to drink, I had a sudden craving for a martini.  I use to love them, but I guess my tastes have changed because I wasn't a fan.  I was a fan of the chips and dips though! And the day before, I brought my Sister's fabulous peanut butter cupcakes.  Mainly because I was craving them and couldn't ask her to make just one..... Over at **Art*Journal*Journey* Elle picked a theme of Books, Cats, and Tea (you can pick one, two or three of the items).  I did a Bible Journal Page in my Journaling Bible - Luke 13:24-25.  After a layer of Gesso, I took a Sharpie pen and drew the kitty, then the narrow door, and then colored the door with Arteza Brush pens. The verse was written with a Micron pen.  This

Milkshake Malt Porter and a Bit of Art

Hello friends and Happy T-day. It has been hit or miss with me lately on T-day posts. The remodel of our house next door has taken our mental and physical energy.  I think a few more weeks and things will be on the contractor instead of us.  Hopefully I will be back to normal by then. My Oldest Darling Daughter asked if we wanted to come for dinner Saturday.  Translation:  go to the store with me and we will bring part of dinner to your house and you cook the rest.  While at the store, I saw one 6 pack of this fun milkshake porter so, of course, I bought it.  It smells wonderful (a hint of chocolate and a hit of malt) and has a light creamy taste.  I would definitely buy it again if I see it.  My son-in-law did not like it, but he is more a  Miller Lite fan.  Now if this had been a whiskey, he would have been all over it.  LOL.  Linking this to Elizabeth's blog for the T-party gang. Darling Daughter had tried her hand at dried pintos, and she rocked them (I will begging for a rep
