Dogwoods, Dragonflies and a Zombie

Dogwood flowers are so pretty and my Mother loved them.  They inspired me to do this Art Journal page and two cards this weekend.

I was also inspired by these lovely words.  I stamped the DRS Designs Dogwood Branch image a ton of times, and then water-colored and fussy cut them out while watching a movie.  Then I used white gesso over my journal page, splattered it with various colors, and assembled my wreath.  It needed something else so I added in the bee.

I am linking this Art Journal Page to the **Art*Journal*Journey* "Inspired By" theme for April.

Here are my two cards also made with the Dogwood Branch.

I tucked in the Chick on a Nest image for some cuteness.  I splattered the top background as well.  The bottom panel was done with sprays and sponging.

The jar is a CTMH Die that I made a border around using a metal nib and India Ink.  I also used the ink to do my framing around the main panel and the tag.

I also was inspired by the Splitcoaststampers.com Watercolor Challenge where we watched  THIS VIDEO and I did this Art Journal page.

Lastly, I used a Stabilo pencil, water, India Ink and a white gel pen do to this super fun Zombie card:

It was inspired by THESE characters from the Splitcoaststampers.com Inspiration Challenge - of course, I picked the spookiest ones! LOL.

Thanks for visiting!

Hugz,

Nancy

  1. You are on a roll, Nancy. You have given us some beautiful cards to ooh and ahh over. The two dogwoods are so different, yet made from the same supplies. Stunning. The jar filled with Mother's Day wishes is incredible. I love the frames you created. They look so artsy and perfectly beautiful.

Your journal pages are beautiful. I especially love the dragonfly. The soft springlike pastel colors you chose set the mood of the journal page. Thank you for sharing it with us at Art Journal Journey honoring Eileen's theme, too. And of course, that zombie is a hoot!

  2. Your dogwood flower art is so beautiful Nancy. That wreath is amazing. And you added the perfect quote. If that wasn't a journal page you could frame that. And I love how you used them to those cards too. And what is it about splattering a background that finishes a page? All your art such a treat. Thanks for sharing with us at AJJ. Hugs-Erika

  5. I didn't think I would ever see those three things together! Maybe Dogwoods and Dragonflies but not Zombies as well.
Super projects Nancy, they are all fabulous but I especially like the beautiful Dragonfly.

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Please join us in the Pattie's Creations Tag Challenge - there are lovely DT tags for inspiration and Pattie gives away wonderful prizes! Hugz!
It's time for the New Release Blog Hop at Dude Time Doodles ! I am thrilled to show off Elmer Elf - just one of the four new images. I love them all and plan to make Christmas cards with every single one of them. Be sure and pick them up soon in the store if you like them because all the Dude Time Doodles Images will be retiring in the next few weeks - sniff, sniff! If you came to my blog from Sharon's amazing blog you can continue on to Mags who has another wonderful creation to show you. Dude Time Doodles blog hops are easy as you can hop on at any point and just continue around. Be sure and leave comments because one of the DT members is the mystery host/hostess and one of the commenters on their blog will win free images from the store. Hugz!!

A Bit of Tea, Horses, and a Cowboy

I love when my children follow in my footsteps and beyond (only the cool footsteps, of course).   My daughter, Allie, has developed a love of tea.  She sent me this picture over the weekend of her having tea in her newly remodelled bedroom.   She was drinking Breakfast in Paris tea in one of her favorite thrift store mugs.  This is my ticket to the T-day gathering over at Elizabeth's blog .  To join us, all you have to do is have a drink related post (can be any type of drink).   The neighborhood horses have been gathering in our backyard for some reason. Our horse refuses to come up near our house because the lady who owns all these horses gives her much better treats.  They all jump the fences and visit everyone.  The mule in the picture is actually named after me because I named one of cows after the neighbor (he paid me back - lol). I gave them apples when they came on Sunday, and they have come back every day since - lol....
