A Bear, Some Wine, a Bit Too Much Glitter

What is your spirit animal?  Mine is a bird of some type.  My family swears it is a Parrot because they never shut up. I am not sure about that, but I am sure that my hubby's Spirit Animal is a Bear.  So this card is dedicated to him!

I did this card for the Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoaststampers.com and I was inspired by THIS cool pin on Pinterest.  I didn't think it would come out well so I didn't even sketch him with a pencil first - probably should have so my distance on his mouth and nose would have come out better but mine came out a bit more cartoonish and I made some other changes as well (like a longer face, stubble, etc.).  Hubby loves him but disagrees he is a bear ....lol.

It is Tuesday so time to check in with the T is for Tuesday gang at Elizabeth's blog.  Here is my fun drink from this past week.

The wine and cheese were Mother's Day Gifts from my girls that I broke out this weekend.  The wine bottle is fun but the wine was too sweet for me (I drank this glass and will use the rest to cook with).  The cheese was really sweet too - would be great with some strawberries so I have them on this week's grocery list.  The girls gave me this glass years ago for my birthday and I have always loved it.

Saw that the Try it on Tuesday challenge was Make it Feminine. I had some high hopes for this page but that background went in some crazy directions!

Here is a better view of the words:

I altered the Tim Holtz dolls by cutting them apart, giving them more shapely bodies, and giving them some flower filed skirts.  I used a hydrangea die to fill their skirts with tiny petals.  The die makes the flower on the right.

For that crazy base, I used a song page which you can still see (not in the picture), covered it with a light layer of white gesso, then some expanding mouse through a stencil, then some gold glitter embossing powder.....too much but I was already committed so it remains.  So the end result is Feminine - we tend to to do a bit too much sparkle at time or is it true you can never have too much?

Hope you have a wonderful Tuesday and a great week.

Hugz,

Nancy

I love the bear card you made for your DH. I’m sure my spirit animal would be a parrot too lol. So enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to Tuesday’s. Happy week dear friend. Hugs from Oz jx

  2. Good morning, I loved seeing your art-I did an online test years ago and it said my spirit animal was a hummingbird-so when I decided to start a new blog I used that. I do really love the wolf too.
I love your wine choice-I buy the semi sweet to dry of the winking owl.
Happy T and new week Kathy

  3. Hi Nancy! You got some sweet gifts from your girls! Love the bear card for your husband. I think my spirit animal is a raven. And thanks for linking your lovely page to TIOT, much appreciated. And you can never have too much glitter! Happy T Day, have a great week, hugs, Valerie

  4. That bear came out amazing Nancy. I think my spirit animal is some type of bird too. I want to say mine is an eagle because I keep seeing them in strange places. But I'm not sure either. Your glass is beautiful. And I bet even though the wine was sweet you still appreciate the thought. And I must say I love your page for the feminine challenge at Try It on Tuesday. I think it came out fantastic, but then I do like a little sparkle. Their skirts actually look like cloth. And nice texture too. Thanks for joining us. Hugs-Erika

  6. Too bad the wine was sweeter than you like. I'm with you on that: really prefer dry wine for almost all circumstances.

  8. I love your bear :) and the elephants! Sweet wine isn't my favorite either, but that glass would make anything taste good. Happy T Tuesday

  9. Oh, wow, Nancy. I love your bear painting! I think he’s way closer to real than to cartoonish. Love the wine setup too. Yes, cute glass and fun wine name. That’s a really creative journal page. Maybe a bit busy, but very cleverly put together and it all really works.

  10. I adore your bear, Nancy. You may think it's cartoonish, but I don't. It's lovely. I also like your very feminine women with their glittery skirts. But that wine is so cute. May have been t sweet for you, but I loved the label. And of course, the glass with the elephants on it is beautiful, too Thanks so very much for sharing this with us, along with your art at T this Tuesday.

  11. Such beautiful artwork! The bear is amazing, I love the close up and he looks quite the character - perfect 😁. The name of the wine made me smile and the etched glass is so pretty with the elephant. Your can never have too much glitter and your page is beautiful, thanks so much for joining us at Try it on Tuesday! Happy T Day wishes! Hugs, Jo x

  13. Ohhhh, I love your card! And a bear can be very cuddly (well. if a teddy-bear, that is ;-)...)
    Oh, I love owls!
And one friend calls me Hathi, you know, the elephant from The Jungle Book as I accidentially tend to break glass and china, fun pic! And cheese, who can resist cheese?! LOL, yes, we cook with wine, rather than drink it. (Germans, eh, beer is the choice).

Love your background, it´s perfect for girly-girls!
And the quote... went into my journal page, thank you :-) Reckon you´ll find it on Tuesday and hope that´s OK!
And now I have an idea what to do with the glitter I thought was embossing powder... beginner here, LOL... Hugs and thank you for the fun post, belated happy T-Day.

  14. A super card Nancy, I think your bear is wonderful. A fun wine bottle, a shame the wine was a bit sweet for you. I like your journal page, lots of great texture and I love what you have done to the girls.

  15. Love the bear. Black bear is my spirit animal. Fun label on the wine bottle. I like sweet wines 😉 You can never have too much sparkle. Happy T Day

  16. I have no idea what my spirit animal is but from first guess I'd say a cat. (I love to curl up by the fire or lounge by the window in the sun.)
Your bear picture is perfect! I recognized it immediately as a bear.
I'm with you on the wine. A sweet wine is not that nice. You can keep it as a dessert wine. I've never heard of Wensleydale cheese with strawberries. Wallace (Wallace and Gromit) would not approve.
I love your sparkly page. As other people have said: you can never have enough sparkle.
    A belated happy T-Day,
    Hugs,
    Lisca

  19. A fabulous page Nancy and very feminine, love how you've altered the 'girls' with their sparkly skirts and what a great quote.
Your bear painting is fabulous no wonder hubby loves him.
Love your elephant etched glass - shame the wine was too sweet, but the bottle label is brilliant.
Thanks for sharing with us at Try it on Tuesday.

  21. I like the page a lot and you met the challenge very well. I don't care for sweet wines but I probably would have purchased that for the label. I like owls, LOL!

  22. I am not a sparkle type of person, unless it is Christmas when I do like my Stickles. Nevertheless I like it on other people's work and I love the way you have altered the TH girls. Wow, those shapely bodies and glittery skirts are wonderful. Love the background you made. I thought it was a wooden background, or a canvas or something quite solid like that.
So he does not believe he is a bear. Does he have his own views on his spirit animal? I have just done the quiz and find I am a butterfly. Now what does that say about me?
    Hugs, Neet xx

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day....

Dreams of Fall, Numbers, and a Cool Drink

I hate to admit it, but I am already looking forward to Fall!  That is also the theme for this House Mouse card I finished up today. I stamped this 2009 Turning Over a New Leaf (Monica) image on the envelope too because the current House Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge #392 theme is decorate your envelope too.  On the card, I stamped the image, popped up some of the leaves and drew in some branches.  The background and leaves are watercolored with DOX ink.  Monica is colored with pencils and watercolor.   I sure wished it was Fall on Saturday when we were watching our youngest grandson at the 6U All Star State Championship. It was very hot. His team lost in the semi-finals. We were very proud of how hard they played. Speaking of baseball, I did two pages on our two All-Stars. I am linking them up to the Numbers theme at **Art*Journal*Journey* .  I have numbers in the journaling and there are numbers on their jerseys.   The All Stars cap ...

Halloween Lunch Pictures and Some Art

Happy T-day! Our favorite local restaurant is Fox's Pizza Den where they have great pizza, sandwiches, pasta and salads. They also have a Bourbon Bar.  Prices range from $7 to almost $1,000 on the bourbon and bourbon drinks.   Each holiday, the bourbon bar comes up with fun holiday themed drinks and they decorate the bar too.  A few weeks ago, we headed there for lunch and to try one of the new drinks.  Here is the holiday drink menu and my tickets to T-day over at Elizabeth's Blog where we share our fun drink related items from the week.  Of course, my daughter loves vampire books and movies so she picked the blood bag. I go more for taste so I got the Meet Your Maker - it was wonderful.   We shared a pizza and a salad.  I forgot to take a picture of the pizza, but I did get one of the salad. It had grilled chicken and potato wedges - super fun.  They make their ranch dressing on site and it is wonderful.  My husband has been know...
