Some Pale Ale, Flowers, and Birds

Getting in a hurry is getting more dangerous for me.  It used to just frustrate me, but these days I also make more mistakes.  This was supposed to be a beer with vanilla, caramel and other cool flavors but evidently most their beers look the same and I grabbed the wrong one.  I am not really a pale ale fan, but this one ended up being refreshing.  I will drink them, but not be super excited about them. The can is very cool though and could inspire a journal page or card for sure!  It is my ticket to Elizabeth's T-day party.

Quick post this week as I am short on time. I have done a little art lately.
This one was for this week's Featured Stamper challenge at SCS where I cased THIS card by Kim.

Some art with my grandsons - we all did quick blobby bird cards:
Lewis' card - he added a chicken.
Hollis' card (he did a cat too) - pretty good for 5 don't you think?
I also tried a bit of a calendar this month and I am also posting it to **Art*Journal*Journey* as it has a bird.  I miss my AJJ friends - it has been a hard month!
I started with a note page from a work meeting and painted over it (you can see still see some of my notes).  Then I painted the bird and wrote the sentiment.  To express the sentiment, I wrote things I was thankful for quickly around the edges.  Then I filled in the things we didn't want to miss - mostly baseball games.  I need to do another one quick as more baseball is coming up!

Hugz,

Nancy

  1. I agree with you that the label on that can of ale is really a nice work of art. Many craft products have quite lovely labels, and so do a lot of bottles of wine. I think this is a great trend!

Your kids' art really is exciting too. They learn so fast.

  4. It has been a hard art month, even for me being retired. Smile. But I love your bird page. Thanks for finding some time and joining us for Matilde's AJJ challenge. I like how the bird is looking up to see where the ball is going. And I'm with you about pale ales. They are very popular, but I like something with a bit more "meat on the bone" so to speak. But that can is fantastic. Have a great T day and week ahead Nancy. Hope you get a little down time too. hugs-Erika

  5. I am a sucker for labels!! I seem to drift to IPAs, to the disgust of my husband who thinks they taste like perfume!

  8. I am in LOVE with the design on your pale ale can. It is beyond beautiful, even if I only like stout beer. The cans from some microbreweries are beyond cool. Thamks for sharing this with us for T this Tuesday, Nancy.

Your grandson's cards are adorable. How cute and clever. Really love their birds. And of course, speaking of birds, thanks for sharing this bit of inspiration with us at Art Journal Journey using Matilde's theme. It's a lovely calendar page and kept you on task, too.

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Please join us in the Pattie's Creations Tag Challenge - there are lovely DT tags for inspiration and Pattie gives away wonderful prizes! Hugz!

Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

A Covered Bridge, a Shotgun Wedding, Patton Wisdom, and Some Art

On our recent vaction, hubby and I got back to our historical marker seeking.  This time we visited the Clarkson Covered Bridge. It is super long and very cool.  We also found a website HERE that has a mapped out tour of Alabama where you can visit 7 in one day - a fun trip for a Fall weekend.  This is the only picture I took of the bridge. The day before, we visited the Patton Musuem at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and viewed Ft. Knox from as close as they will let you get. They say there is still a ton of gold in Ft. Knox - trillions of dollars worth.  We liked the Patton Museum.  I don't agree with most of Patton's management style, but do respect that he accomplished much.  I was impressed with some of his leadership statements like this one which I totally agree with: They have some fabulous items at the museum - hubby could have looked for hours and hours if I had let him. They have planes, tanks, and other vehicles there too so you can see exactly what ...
