T is for The Sandlot Birthday and a Lobster Roll

Hello friends.

It is T-day over at Elizabeth's Blog and time to share what fun I had this weekend at my Grandson's The Sandlot themed birthday party (you have to look closely for the drink girls).

He turned 6 and The Sandlot is his favorite movie (he is a big baseball addict and would play it every minute of every day if you let him). He has played since he was 3 and hit a homerun last week. His other Grandmother is super crafty (a few levels above me in talent and time), so this party looked awesome!

Here he is in front of the main table which Terri decorated. She made him the shirt too.

The original cake artist had a death in the family, so Terri whipped up and decorated a cake. It was super cool and tasted awesome! They own a heating and air company, and we joked they could add AND CAKES to the end of their name. I know she could come up with some cute shirts for that! We were only half kidding on the new name.

They had it all covered so all I made was some baseball trail mix for the tables and I wrapped his present up fun using cardboard pieces to make the fence. I painted a baseball field on the top.

The party was at a nerf gun war studio so the boys all played nerf gun war for 2 hours. They had a blast. It was a hit (pun intended). We also went to an art and music festival, and I finally got to have a lobster roll from the lobster food truck that runs through our state! This was my daughter's half - we split it due to the high cost. I know my friends from lobster country will probably laugh at this, but we felt lucky to have one in down here in Alabama. This food truck had a super long line and people were emailing in orders and coming to pick it all up. It was the star of the festival for sure.

Sunday we recovered and I finished two books I had previously started and had a long nap.

The Sea, Words of Courage, and Some Ink/Watercolor

Hello friends, Last week felt like a stormy sea of its own with my husband recovering from recent hip replacement surgery and several friends and family members facing life battles - my heart was caught in the waves. Computer issues and lack of sleep didn't help. Mark 4:39-41 reminded me: even when the winds rage, Jesus is in the boat. He speaks peace over the chaos. “Peace, be still.” I needed that reminder. Several lovely Creative Worship Stamps sets were used in the making of this watercolored and inked BAJ page: The Sea (the boat and verse), Scene Silhouettes: Tall Grasses, and Have Courage . This page was stamped, then watercolored with Daniel Smith Watercolors. I finished it off with some Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Vintage Photo, Mustard Seed, and Ground Expresso), plus a little bit of Silver Stickles. Flowers, a Flag, and Some Wise Words

Hello Crafty Friends! I love Halle's theme at **Art*Journal*Journey* this month: Botanicals. So many possibilities... I combined the botanical theme with some of the colors in ARTNUDGE#725A and came up with this Bible Art Journal page focusing on 1 Timothy 2:1-2. I also made a patriotic prayer card too. In these verses, Paul tells Timothy (and all of us) to pray for everyone but he especially calls out prayer for kings and leaders. He indicates that this type of prayer could lead us to a tranquil and quite life in all godliness and dignity. I think we can all agree that the world needs much prayer right now and it is an easy step we can take. I experimented on this journal page. I usually cover any bible journal pages with gesso before painting on them, but I have issues with the gesso gumming up my Micron pens or unevenly taking color. This time I used Daniel Smith Ground Medium in Titanium White (I mixed it with 10 parts water). I loved it and will be using it in the fut...

Wise Words for Life's Storms

My first post as a Guest Designer for Creative Worship Stamps. This watercolor and ink card features one of my favorite CWS sentiments - Big God . I am so grateful He is there in storms and this stamp beautifully underscores His power. The main panel of this card is watercolor paper and was painted with Daniel Smith Watercolors and Liquid Ink (the white highlights in the rain drops). That is one fabulous cake and that goes for the party decor too. Wow. She could open her own party planning shop too. And I found the drinks with their orange caps. And how did you like your lobster roll? There's quite a bit of lobster in too. I wonder what they will cost here this year Happy belated birthday to your grandson. Happy Easter to you also. It´s really such a joy to see how everything was presented! The pressies themselves can hardly beat this!!! When I was a child... basics, that was that.

What an amazing birthday party for your grandson. I love the cake your daughter made and I also love the way you managed to sneak in those drinks you eluded to. Nice themed party and super way for your grandson to remember this special day. What a lovely treat, including the card you made for the themed party. What fun he must have had.

I've never had a lobster roll, so you are lucky that food truck was able to make them, even if they were expensive. Thanks for sharing your grandson's wonderful themed birthday, the bottled drinks, your card, and your lobster roll with us for T this Tuesday, dear Nancy.

Wow, what a party! And such a beautiful cake too. And I love the card you made.
I have never had lobster roll but Erika loves to have one in the summer. (In fact I have never eaten lobster)

Oh wow how fun to have this Sandlot themed party with cake and all the decor! I'm sure it made this little guy feel so special! Your card is just perfect for him too! Looks like a really fun time and Happy Birthday to him!
