Boys and their Expensive Toys



I am so excited that I won last month's Dude Time Doodles Guest Designer Challenge, and I get to play with the way cool Dude Time Doodles Images and the awesome Design Team for the whole month of June! The first challenge this month is all about Boys and Their Toys. I absolutely love this Under Carriage Craig image because a lot of men in my life still get under cars and get all dirty! I made this one as a thank-you card for my neighbor who watched over our cows while we were out of town the last few weeks. He loves to work on cars and he even said the other day that you can never have too many tools. The image comes with a toolbox in the lower left corner so I cropped out the rest of the image and blew up the toolbox so I could add my typed sentiment to it.

I also printed another copy of the image out and cut out just the pants, the grill, and the lights. I am not the best at coloring so I like to add some ink to the edges of my images with a bit of a sponge. I can only do that if I cut out parts of the image. I then glue them back down. I know some of you great artists are frowning, but hey - it works for me.

My husband loves this card - he told me not to give it to my neighbor until he was around because he wants to see his face. I have to tell you that is so inspiring for me because my husband usually rolls his eyes when I show him a card. Fun, fun, fun!!!

Come play in the challenge (there are great prizes) - it is a great inspiration for making a Father's Day card or for just beefing up your masculine card stash!

    This card is outstanding. I love this image and what a great idea you had to type your sentiment on the front of the tool chest. We all have to do what makes us feel good about our cards. I think each and every one of your cards that I see are exceptional. My problem area lies in cutting things out. I am just not good at that, so I try to avoid it all the time. I'm glad for you that this card pleased your husband. Well enjoy your day.

    Your method of inking edges to add depth is a great one, Nancy! I do that sometimes, too, and love the result. I always think that's better than botching a coloring job because I'm shading things wrong! This is an awesome guy card--love that sentiment. It would be perfect for my hubby!

    Absolutely LOVE this!! You knocked this one out of the ball park!! Fabulous use of the little sentiment tag and the sponging is a brilliant idea. I too want to see your neighbour's face when he gets it LOL!

Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

 I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. Stamps, Books, Found Relatives, and More Food

 Don't you love getting new stuff?  This is my fun new stuff from  Red Lead Paperworks .   I ordered the fun vintage looking deer stamp and the three Christmas greetings - all were on sale a few weeks ago.  I love getting their packages because they always send some extra little goodies like collage sheets and old tickets plus even their packaging is cute and reusable.  The sheet with the leaves and acorns on the bottom is the other side of the invoice so you can reuse it as well.  I can't wait to play with these fun goodies.  Here is a look at my current reading pile.  I checked Basil's War by Stephen Hunter from the library, my daughter lent me The Paper Palace, and I bought The Host, Going Back to Petrey, and The Lady in Blue from the Thrift Store. Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow).
