A Few Birthday Cards

My plan to get a million birthday cards done didn't quite work out, but I did get a few done so I am calling it a success!

My first one was done with an old image from Whipper Snapper and some papers I found way in the back corner of my scrapbook room. I was so lazy that I didn't even want to color this so I dragged it through some Tim Holtz Victorian Velvet spritzed with glitter mist and sponged a bit of barn door and rusty hinge. Seriously you would have laughed if you could have seen how I did this!

My next card was done for the IC challenge on SCS. The challenge was a trip to Ruth Bleakley's Flickr portfolio; she makes handmade books. So inspirational! I did an accordion card with a fun Enid Barnes image I just had to purchase called Ostrich. His look is so wild! His eyes freak me out AND make me smile!

Here is the inside:

Lastly, I did a card for the Featured Stamper Challenge on SCS - this week the muse was Penny Ward and I cased THIS gorgeous card in her gallery.

I made my flower with some scraps. I hand cut it. I got distracted and watched flower making videos on YouTube (getting the picture of why I didn't do more cards? LOL). HERE is the link to the video if you want to watch it too (warning - this girl is very very happy but super creative - you will never look at scraps the same way again).

Hugz!!!

  1. I love how you painted and sparkled your first card...quick! Ha It looks super. Your accordion card is great and I do love that ostrich. I could make a million flowers with all the scraps I have. I need to watch that video. Yours turned out so pretty.

  2. All of these are adorable. Love the colors of the first one and you're right about those ostrich eyes. Great way to use scraps on your flower too.

  3. A fabulous selection of cards Nancy, I love the gorgeous colours and jewels on the first one and brilliant design of the second one, but I have to say the last one is my favourite - I love your beautiful flower and what a wonderful way to use up your scraps.
I know what you mean about YouTube, I think I'll just pop and have a little look and a couple or hours later!!!

  4. I don't know what to say Nancy. A trio of fabulous cards. I don't think they would allow me enough space to comment them properly so I will do the short form. The stork and embellishments on the first card would make anyone happy to receive it. You are correct on the second card. I had a coast to coast smile with the second card. It is almost as if it smiles back. The third card is just funky enough to get the point across and still get a smile and a warm feeling when they get it. All in all I would say fantastic.

  5. Lovely mix of cards. Love that ostrich face. had to giggle because I thought it was an emu face at first and thought of the emu that got away from a farm on the Island this past week and they finally caught it a week later - crafty devil LOL!

  8. I'm always getting off track from my creating by watching You Tube tutorials and the like - so distracting but so much fun! These cards are all fantastic but I have the say that the Ostrich is the one that jumped out at me - love that face :)

  10. You are so much more productive than I am. One card is like 42,000 to me....lol Three cards is definitely a million. The flamingo is definitely a bling winner. I love how you did the crystals to highlight the tail feathers. The ostrich is so stinking cute you can't help but feel a ping of joy in your heart looking at it. Don't have a clue how you made such a gorgeous flower out of straps-but hey it's amazing.

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day.  The paper in the middle is from the Stamperia Forest

A Martini, Peanut Butter Cupakes, and Art

Hello Friends. Today, I have an ecletic mix of drinks, dessert, and art. First, it's T-day somewhere in the world so time for a drink post which I am linking to Elizabeth's Blog - Altered Book Lover.  Last week we had a work related dinner.  When the waitress asked what I wanted to drink, I had a sudden craving for a martini.  I use to love them, but I guess my tastes have changed because I wasn't a fan.  I was a fan of the chips and dips though! And the day before, I brought my Sister's fabulous peanut butter cupcakes.  Mainly because I was craving them and couldn't ask her to make just one..... Over at **Art*Journal*Journey* Elle picked a theme of Books, Cats, and Tea (you can pick one, two or three of the items).  I did a Bible Journal Page in my Journaling Bible - Luke 13:24-25.  After a layer of Gesso, I took a Sharpie pen and drew the kitty, then the narrow door, and then colored the door with Arteza Brush pens. The verse was written with a Micron pen.  This

Milkshake Malt Porter and a Bit of Art

Hello friends and Happy T-day. It has been hit or miss with me lately on T-day posts. The remodel of our house next door has taken our mental and physical energy.  I think a few more weeks and things will be on the contractor instead of us.  Hopefully I will be back to normal by then. My Oldest Darling Daughter asked if we wanted to come for dinner Saturday.  Translation:  go to the store with me and we will bring part of dinner to your house and you cook the rest.  While at the store, I saw one 6 pack of this fun milkshake porter so, of course, I bought it.  It smells wonderful (a hint of chocolate and a hit of malt) and has a light creamy taste.  I would definitely buy it again if I see it.  My son-in-law did not like it, but he is more a  Miller Lite fan.  Now if this had been a whiskey, he would have been all over it.  LOL.  Linking this to Elizabeth's blog for the T-party gang. Darling Daughter had tried her hand at dried pintos, and she rocked them (I will begging for a rep
