Weekend Warrior Projects

I was able to do a lot of crafting this weekend!  My favorite kind of weekend!  I also got to spend time with my youngest daughter going to more junk/repurposed stores which we both love. Hope you got to do some fun things too this weekend.

I have seen so many great tags lately so I decided to make one for the newest ODBD challenge (ODBDSLC218) which is to make something using 4 letters from the word "Blessings."  I used the following letters:
  • B - Blue, Branch Punch, Bow, Blessings Sentiment
  • L - Leaves
  • E - Embossing
  • S - Sentiment and Straw
  • S - Sanding and Sponging
  • I - Ink
  • N - Nestabilities
  • G - Glue (lots of it to keep that flower and twine and straw in place)

I used a sentiment from the ODBD Blessing set (a Birthday present from a sweet friend).  I am tying this tag to a candleholder to give as a hostess gift this week.  I love how it came out.

On SCS, I recommended the Inspiration Site for the Inspiration Challenge this weekend and got to play guest hostess. The site is the fun antique/repurposed item store we visited last week:  Resurrect Antiques.  Here are the cards I made for that challenge:

The above card was made using the Create a Pine Bough set from MFP and I made my rolled roses using some notebook paper my daughter wrote a rough draft a paper on.  I took the paper and coated it with a mixture of glue, TH fired brick ink, and water.  After it dried, I ran it through an embossing folder and then cut the circles I used to make the flowers.  The glue technique qualified this for a few MIX challenges on SCS too.

This card was based on a great chalkboard sign from the site - I thought it would make a great get well card.  The image is from Sassy Cheryl and is called Good Company (available at Squigglefly).

I couldn't resist playing in the SCS Mix challenge this week which was all about feathers.  I had been wanting to play with the SU! Four Feathers set I bought a few months ago.

I water-colored my bg, leaves, and feathers.  I dry embossed the bg and wet embossed the feathers ad leaves with Stampendous Frantage embossing powder.  After stamping the feathers, I cut them and distressed them.  The sentiment is from SU!   I gave this to a sweet friend who invited me to her retirement dinner last night. I sure hope she liked it.

Then I made a card for the Featured Stamper challenge on SCS today. The FS is Cheryl l Rowley and she has a great gallery at SCS.  I cased THIS card - I changed Cheryl's leaves to winter leaves and added some ice crystals.

I am going to give this to another friend who is retiring (he invited me to his retirement dinner tomorrow night).

Hugz!!!!

  2. I am always so excited to see the cards and creations you come up with and today was no exception. I love each and every one of your items here today but I have to say the first (candle holder) is my favorite, although it was a hard decision. Your second card was so very festive and you did an outstanding job with your flowers. Love the first retirement card and that sentiment is perfect. Great water coloring on the next card. Your last has has some of the beautiful leaves I've ever seen.
Glad you and your daughter had a nice time shopping this weekend. Enjoy the rest of the week and I wish you and your family and very Happy Thanksgiving.

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Please join us in the Pattie's Creations Tag Challenge - there are lovely DT tags for inspiration and Pattie gives away wonderful prizes! Hugz!
It's time for the New Release Blog Hop at Dude Time Doodles ! I am thrilled to show off Elmer Elf - just one of the four new images. I love them all and plan to make Christmas cards with every single one of them. Be sure and pick them up soon in the store if you like them because all the Dude Time Doodles Images will be retiring in the next few weeks - sniff, sniff! If you came to my blog from Sharon's amazing blog you can continue on to Mags who has another wonderful creation to show you. Dude Time Doodles blog hops are easy as you can hop on at any point and just continue around. Be sure and leave comments because one of the DT members is the mystery host/hostess and one of the commenters on their blog will win free images from the store. Hugz!!

A Bit of Tea, Horses, and a Cowboy

I love when my children follow in my footsteps and beyond (only the cool footsteps, of course).   My daughter, Allie, has developed a love of tea.  She sent me this picture over the weekend of her having tea in her newly remodelled bedroom.   She was drinking Breakfast in Paris tea in one of her favorite thrift store mugs.  This is my ticket to the T-day gathering over at Elizabeth's blog .  To join us, all you have to do is have a drink related post (can be any type of drink).   The neighborhood horses have been gathering in our backyard for some reason. Our horse refuses to come up near our house because the lady who owns all these horses gives her much better treats.  They all jump the fences and visit everyone.  The mule in the picture is actually named after me because I named one of cows after the neighbor (he paid me back - lol). I gave them apples when they came on Sunday, and they have come back every day since - lol....
