Scrapbook Inspired Cards and BAJ

I look forward to the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast Stampers every Saturday.  That challenge always gets me going and starts my weekend off perfectly.  I even get up between 4:00 and 5:00 AM so I have plenty of time to do it before rushing off to garage sales. 

This week the challenge was a Pinterest Board full of Studio Calico scrapbook pages.  I chose THIS page as my inspiration.  That board made me want to start scrapbooking again - I haven't done much in the last year but I am going on a retreat soon and I think I am going to get some Studio Calico supplies and do my pages like the ones on this board.  Love everything in it. 

This weekend, I did a card and a Bible Art Journaling page using the scrapbook page I selected as my inspiration.  The card is part of the thank you cards I am making for my girls to give out after their father's passing (my ex-husband).  I wanted to make them very personal so I am using copies of old pictures.  This scrapbook page challenge worked perfectly for this! 
 I used scraps out of my scrap bin, stars from Dollar General, part of a discarded image using the DRS See You Later Alligator image, SU! Butterfly Thinlit, and an old Thanks! Stamp from SU!
I used the same little left overs for this BAJ page.  Psalms 56 is so comforting.  It speaks of how God stands with us and there is little man can do to us when God is with us.  I highlighted this scripture in my Bible because my Sister had it highlighted in her Bible which I inherited after her death.  She feared for her life for several years and she received comfort in scriptures like this.  Sadly, the people who threatened to have her killed, followed through with it - all over custody of a child and ego.  The evil in this world is so ugly.  Thankfully, we have God to save our souls - if we trust in Him.  She trusted, so I know she is safe now.

    So sorry for your girls father's passing and the tragedy in your family from your sister's passing no matter how long ago it may have happened. We have had our tragedy's in our family too and prayer helped us all through our losses.. I guess it is all apart of life. Sure makes us treasure the good times and all our wonderful memories.

    I'm so sorry to learn of the sorrows you've dealt with. The thank-you cards and your sister's bible with art journaling on her favorite passage will bring you comfort in the years to come I'm sure.

    Nancy, you are so brave and stoic. Reading this post made me realize how fragile human life can be.

    Oh, dear Nancy, I am so sorry for such loss in your family, but I praise God that your precious sister loved the Lord and is now with Him. What a beautiful journaling portion to do, and I commend you for making such lovely thank-you notes for your girls. Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

 I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

A Covered Bridge, a Shotgun Wedding, Patton Wisdom, and Some Art

 On our recent vaction, hubby and I got back to our historical marker seeking.  This time we visited the Clarkson Covered Bridge. It is super long and very cool.  We also found a website HERE that has a mapped out tour of Alabama where you can visit 7 in one day - a fun trip for a Fall weekend.  This is the only picture I took of the bridge. The day before, we visited the Patton Musuem at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and viewed Ft. Knox from as close as they will let you get. They say there is still a ton of gold in Ft. Knox - trillions of dollars worth.  We liked the Patton Museum.  I don't agree with most of Patton's management style, but do respect that he accomplished much.  I was impressed with some of his leadership statements like this one which I totally agree with: They have some fabulous items at the museum - hubby could have looked for hours and hours if I had let him.
