Sunsets, Teapots, Trucks, and Flowers

The last day of June...where does time go?

Speaking of time, I had to do one last page for the **Art*Journal*Journey* June prompt - A Stitch in Time.  Added some little zig zags to the corner of my BAJ page and also added some girls from the past wearing fancy dresses to my card.  The girls are covering a very bad mistake with a white paint pen - lol.  The BAJ background is made with an embossing folder inked up and sprayed with water.  The water panels are all water colored with SU! Ink using a penny for the sun.

These verses in Psalm 126 have much deeper meanings than the seem.  I looked up Negev and it is a desert.  So then I looked up watercourses, and it seems that when it rains in this desert, the water trickles down into patterns which then meet each other until they are powerful streams.  A beautiful analogy and so meaningful.  Lovely.
I also did a few more BAJ pages lately with matching cards.

This one is made with some botanical tissue paper, stencils, white gesso and gold paint.  The hummingbirds and the card sentiment are from the old SU! Elements of Style set.  I focused on Psalms 102 and 103, but mainly the opening words of Psalm 103:  My soul, bless the Lord, and all that is within me, bless His holy name.  My soul bless the Lord, and do not forget all His benefits.
This one was made by painting up some heavyweight white paper with gesso, then some Arteza Gouache rust paint, then some blue Dina Wakely Acylic paint mixed with Crackle Paint. Then put on an Andy Skinner stencil.  Once dry, I cut up the panels, punched in holes, added distress inks, put them all together and then did more stenciling (Stamperia Pipes).  The tags are Stamperia Sea World. More Psalms - Psalm 119 which is the longest Psalm and contains several dozen prayers.  It is like a history lesson and has several themes as well.  I focused on the pleas of help and the expectation and knowledge that God would help.  With all that is going on in my life and the world - that is all important.
I have also made some cards - should make some matching BAJ pages for them too - especially this first one.  It two combined SU! sets - Sailing Home and High Tide.  Also added in some torn paper clouds and a fun stencil with purple Textures Effects Paste (love that stuff).
Tried my hand a bunch of doodling around this teapot.  Made with the flower and pot from SU! Tea Together.  Took a bit of time to do all the doodling!
Also tried no line watercoloring... it was hard but I like the result.  The truck is Printworks Collection -Dad's Truck and the words are TH (I think - it is a stamp totally separated from its friends for some reason.  I used Distress Inks to stamp and paint the truck.  Added in rust where hubby's rust is on his 1949 (I think) Ford Truck.
Cased Cathy Mac at SCS who was this week's Featured Stamper (so talented).  I drew my flowers and leaves and painted them Arteza Gouache Paint.
Hope you are having a great week - I only have two days of work this week since I took off two days and Friday is a National holiday.  Fun!!!  Dreading the catch up though.

Many hugz,

Nancy

  2. Wow, wow, woW! hat a feast for the eyes today. The Negev is indeed a beautiful place. My niece lives there in a little town not far from the Dead Sea. I love the Psalms because they are Hebrew poetry. The second set of bible journal pages in b/w are my faves today. And I love the rusty pages, and the beautiful teapot, and all of the cards. You have been a very busy bee. Have a great week, take care, hugs, Valerie

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Please join us in the Pattie's Creations Tag Challenge - there are lovely DT tags for inspiration and Pattie gives away wonderful prizes! Hugz!

Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

A Covered Bridge, a Shotgun Wedding, Patton Wisdom, and Some Art

On our recent vaction, hubby and I got back to our historical marker seeking.  This time we visited the Clarkson Covered Bridge. It is super long and very cool.  We also found a website HERE that has a mapped out tour of Alabama where you can visit 7 in one day - a fun trip for a Fall weekend.  This is the only picture I took of the bridge. The day before, we visited the Patton Musuem at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and viewed Ft. Knox from as close as they will let you get. They say there is still a ton of gold in Ft. Knox - trillions of dollars worth.  We liked the Patton Museum.  I don't agree with most of Patton's management style, but do respect that he accomplished much.  I was impressed with some of his leadership statements like this one which I totally agree with: They have some fabulous items at the museum - hubby could have looked for hours and hours if I had let him. They have planes, tanks, and other vehicles there too so you can see exactly what ...
