Texture, Tea Bags, and Pizza

Hello crafty friends,

I have been playing with texture a lot lately and have a few things to share with you.

My first card is on its way to a friend for her birthday.  I painted it up for the watercolor challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com.  The challenge was to add unexpected color to your image - I added in some red to her dress and some mint green and yellow to her face.  There is gold paint on her wings and on the background. The background was a mop up of inks from previous card, then some gesso through a Dylusions stencil.  More ink and spraying.  Tied on a ribbon to finish it off.  The base is thick watercolor paper so this is a 5x6 chunky card that cost a bunch to mail per my grumbling hubby - lol.  My response, of course, is that she is worth it (he agreed with a wink).
Another expensive to mail card done for a friend to friend challenge.  This was a challenge between me and one of my Australian crafting buddies.  We are both kind of new to mixed media and are watching all kinds of videos.  This is one we watched THIS Vintage Dress video by Gabrielle Pollaco  and THIS video by Maremi's small art on adding texture. I watched The Dress Maker will making it.  The wings and sentiment are from an old SU! Fashion Sense stamp set.
This Never Stop Dreaming card was a discard from the previous project that I repurposed into a quick encouragement card.  Stamps are Close To My Heart.
Next, I have another friend who challenged me to make something fun with tea bags - we have both fell in love with tea bag stamping.  This little mini journal was made with gallon sized tea bags that I stapled and tied together.  I made it so the openings are at the top and I stuffed a fun picture into each one.  This is a birthday surprise for a crafty friend who loves tea.  I put in pictures of her girls and her.  I dipped my tea bags into ink first and then stamped on SU! stamp sets for all the pages. 
Here is a picture of two of the inside pages.  Most pages had added in flowers or birds, but I neglected to take pictures of them...
And this is my favorite creation lately - stuffed left over pizza.  I took some horrible leftover pizza (cheap pizza loved by my Grandsons), added in some cream cheese and half a jalapeno, folded it over, and then wrapped it in partially cooked bacon.  I put it in my air fryer to melt the cheese and finish cooking the bacon.  It was WONDERFUL!

    A beautiful collection of cards and lovely journal Nancy but the star of the show is your stuffed leftover pizza, it looks delicious - a great idea, I might have to give it a go when my sons next have some left over pizza.

    I was already looking at your wonderful creations and drooling, and then you hit me with that pizza! Whoa!!! Yummy looking. I DO love your creations though. You're so creative and clever. Each one is just beautiful! I can see why it's worth the extra mailing cost too. Beautiful!

    Wow, Nancy, you are such an artist. Your angel is just so beautiful as are the other pieces of art. I like the sentiment,'Never stop breathing'. All so outstanding and the recycled pizza - creative yet again.

    What a fabulous post full of creativity and inspiration. Love the mixed media textures and the beautiful rosy colour tones you've been using. What lovely cards, and a great example of what wonderful things happen when you step outside your comfort zone.

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

 I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

A Covered Bridge, a Shotgun Wedding, Patton Wisdom, and Some Art

 On our recent vaction, hubby and I got back to our historical marker seeking.  This time we visited the Clarkson Covered Bridge. It is super long and very cool.  We also found a website HERE that has a mapped out tour of Alabama where you can visit 7 in one day - a fun trip for a Fall weekend.  This is the only picture I took of the bridge. The day before, we visited the Patton Musuem at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and viewed Ft. Knox from as close as they will let you get. They say there is still a ton of gold in Ft. Knox - trillions of dollars worth.  We liked the Patton Museum.  I don't agree with most of Patton's management style, but do respect that he accomplished much.  I was impressed with some of his leadership statements like this one which I totally agree with: They have some fabulous items at the museum - hubby could have looked for hours and hours if I had let him. They have planes, tanks, and other vehicles there too so you can see exactly what ...
