I love a good wine and a good book. Tonight, I am raising a glass of this fun Bear Flag Eureka! Red to all my T-day friends and everyone else bold enough to see what is on the kitchen counter and check out why I am jealous.
I have had a few sips tonight, and I caught the plum and chocolate notes, but I am still waiting for the graham cracker note. I am definitely a fan.
The pile of books on my kitchen counter is most the books I have read in 2022. I think I read the Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon in late 2021, but it was on the kitchen counter so it went in the pile. My favorite was Lucky's Beach (lighthearted, fun, and surprising) followed by Where the Crawdads Sing (sad but happy too - she was so strong and so talented). Natchez Burning and Isabel Allende Daughter of Fortune were good too (deep and scary when you think about how evil people really are). Actually, all of them were good even that old I Dare You book Allie bought me at an estate sale.
So why am I jealous? Allie, my youngest daughter, is in Paris and I have to admit, I am getting more and more jealous. Here she is in a vintage car doing a tour with a fun tour guide who took them to buy flowers, see the tower, and then tons of hidden treasures. They ended up loving the tour guide and they are now friends forever. They even gave him the flowers to give to his girlfriend. So fun!
Paris seems to be totally opening up again. I'd love to go there soon, and see my friends and my favorite neighborhoods. Your daughter looks like she's having a great time.

You have made such beautiful scrapbook pages - I'm sure they will love it. That vintage car is a 2CV - they were around when I was a kid and a teenager (does that make me vintage, too?), also called "Ente" (duck) and were extremely loved. One of my friends who studied Chinese with me drove a 2CV and called it "Beijing duck" with the appropriate Chinese characters painted on the back of the car. You just sent me down memory lane.

Oh I would be jealous too. In fact, just reading she is there is makes me jealous. Smile. And your books sound great too. The only one I have read is Where the Crawdads Sing, which I really enjoyed. And you've made some beautiful art this week. I am loving them both, and those coffee cups are fun, and perfect for these morning after the time change until we adjust. You've been busy Nancy, the wine sounds lovely and it looks like you have been reading some super books. Hubby treated me to a kindle for my Birthday a couple of years ago, I wasn't sure that I would like it as I love books, the only problem was they were taking over the house, especially during lockdown - well I surprised myself and absolutely love it, I am reading so much more and the fact that I can change the font size makes it so much easier with my Macular Degeneration.

ReplyDeleteThat wine sounds great, even if I'm not a wine drinker. Of course, I am in awe of the scrapbook pages you created for your daughter and her friend while they are in Paris. It's definitely on my list of places I want to visit some day. She makes it look like fun and she certainly brightens up any photo! Your other daughter looks like she has lost a lot of weight.

How wonderful that your daughter is in Paris and doing really fun things too! That vintage car is a Citroen 2CV. I have great memories of that car. People called it 'the ugly duck' and it had amazing suspension and the seats came out. My best friend had one and we have been on many picnics. The car could be driven off road because of the suspension. hey ho, here we come. Most of them had a linen top that came off. Anyway, sweet memories.

ReplyDeleteI love that you are making scrapbooks for your daughter and her friend! Paris is beautiful at any time of year but the Spring blossom makes it especially beautiful right now. I don't want to add to your jealousy but I am hoping that the blossoms lasts a couple more weeks as we will be there the first week in April. ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely thing to do - making those books for the girls when they return. Your daughter is a very beautiful young woman and she looks as if she really had a marvellous time in Paris. One of my favourite places, was only saying this afternoon (watching Joanna Lumley visiting Paris) how much we have missed the place. I love macarons from there, I wonder whose macarons they were as there are two places I know of that make the best!

ReplyDeleteSome were short novels...others over 500 pages... Last year I did very little reading...
eye proplems... It is a bit better now. It made me appreciate more the priviledge of being able to read. The book in your pile of books that I read was the one by Dela Owens...
Very said book! Most of the time I try to read the Happier books...smile.
Your pages are wonderful, and girls looks lovely. I've never been to Paris...but my hubby was when he was in the military.
