Baseball, Mice, and a Fun Drink

 Hello Friends!

We had a super busy week last week - tons of time with the Grandsons which is our favorite time!  We did lots of baseball, legos, crafting and eating.  Two of our Grandsons made the All-Star teams for their age group.  

Our High School Baseball, the Holtville Bulldogs, won the State Baseball Championship for the first time in 40 years.  So fun.  The town went crazy.  Parades, parties, and lots of autographs. The State Champs took time out of celebrating to visit the 8U Youth team one of my Grandsons is on last night.  The boys thought movie stars had landed.  Here is a picture of the visit - my Grandson is the third from the right on the bottom row (hoping he is on the top two rows in 9 years). 

It is T-day over at Elizabeth's blog where we share a drink of some type along with other life events.  I have a fun drink to share.  It is a paper fun paper drink to get us ready for Summer.


This card is for the Here Comes Summer theme over at House Mouse &Friends Monday Challenge #390.  I watercolored the background and the image (hope you can see the faded palm trees in the background).  In order to add depth to the image, I stamped and colored three layers of the image (a vintage House Mouse image - Splish Splash...A Citrus Bath from 2008). I finished it all off with gems, some Stickles and a computer generated Hello Summer Time.  I had a lime slice and flower left over so I tucked them in as well. 

I have one more drink to share.  My adventurous daughter drove to Mobile to soak up a bit of sun/beach and to try out a new bar/restaurant this weekend.  She sent me a picture of her drink and it looks so cool that I thought I would share it with you. I bet you I could print out the drink and pop up that little mouse.  I may try it - lol.

    That's exciting about your town's high school baseball team. The school I worked at still has the country's longest record for the most wins between 2088-2012, so I know how exciting that is. I bet your grandsons were over the moon. And that drink does look pretty good. The mint leaves look so pretty. I hope you have a super T day Nancy. hugs-Erika

    Nancy how lovely to watch your GSs baseball match, our GS plays basketball so we had the chance to go along and watch when we were over.

    It's so exciting to read the story of your hometown and the grandsons. It will be a memory that y'all will bring out and revisit over and over through the years. I've never seen this HM image.     Nancy how fabulous! My daughter played in the Marching Band and i can remember when the schools football team won their first game EVER.... The kids camped out on the football field that night!! Good times!! You made a beautiful card Nancy! I just love those House Mouse stamps! I have a few.. Before i forget can you drop me a line and give me your zip code again.. for the Anniversary Swap...     Super cute card Nancy :-) the mouse is certainly chillin' in the cold drink!! haha and is does look alot like your daughters cocktail, am sure that was delicious! :-)

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

 I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

A Covered Bridge, a Shotgun Wedding, Patton Wisdom, and Some Art

 On our recent vaction, hubby and I got back to our historical marker seeking.  This time we visited the Clarkson Covered Bridge. It is super long and very cool.  We also found a website HERE that has a mapped out tour of Alabama where you can visit 7 in one day - a fun trip for a Fall weekend.  This is the only picture I took of the bridge. The day before, we visited the Patton Musuem at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and viewed Ft. Knox from as close as they will let you get. They say there is still a ton of gold in Ft. Knox - trillions of dollars worth.  We liked the Patton Museum.  I don't agree with most of Patton's management style, but do respect that he accomplished much.  I was impressed with some of his leadership statements like this one which I totally agree with: They have some fabulous items at the museum - hubby could have looked for hours and hours if I had let him.
