Poppies, Dinners, and Baseball

Hello friends and happy T-day!

I usually start my Tuesday posts with a drink and finish with a bit of art, but today I am switching it up.

First up is some art done for a black/white and red challenge and a challenge involving a picture of poppies.  My black watercolor was running out so I ended up with a lot of gray in my painting, but I still think it came out well.  The sentiment and birds are from Close to My Heart

We had two dinners at work last week.  We had some great appetizers at one.  The shrimp appetizer was so good that I ordered it for dinner too.

Here is a picture of two of my smiling co-workers and my after dinner coffee. These pictures are my ticket to Elizabeth's T-day party. She has a lovely post about Tea this week.  I went with coffee and water.

The other dinner was an awards dinner with a lovely buffet, but I forgot to take any pictures. I was part of a group of four managers that came up with an innovative way to motivate and evaluate our teammembers.  We were pretty excited about the process, but even more excited when we won the Internal Disruption award (it is award for breaking out of the norm and finding innovative ways to solve challenges).  Isn't this the prettiest award?

The rest of the week was spent at baseball games watching our 3 Grandsons.  We attended 7 of their 12 baseball games (in 5 different cities) over a 4 day period.  It is tough having 3 of them all on different teams during tournament season.  Super fun though!

Wishing a great week for us all!

Hugz,

Nancy

  1. Poppies are my absolute fav flowers! I still have an empty sachet of them a friend presented me with right here at my PC - yours is wonderful!
LOL. I so can imagine you ordered that appetizer twice!
As well as the dream of teeth falling out - had that often, too!

    Yay to fun with colleagues.
I still work at home (that is OK!)

LOL, this word always makes me laugh, "evaluate"! I used it in German for an application and my Brother said, "no one says that or understands this!!"
    He´s an optometrist. And goldsmith.
I read that word often and always think of him hence!
To innovation!! And sport and all the action, hugz!

  5. Hi Nancy, congratulations of your award, it is very pretty too. Hope you can find somewhere to display it, it's too nice not to. I love your field of poppies too. I like to mix up my own black watercolour when I don't have any. Ultramarine and burnt umber make a great black. Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx

  7. I love the card. It is beautiful. And the poppies are one of my favorite flowers, even though I can't seem to get them to grow here.

I love shrimp any way it's fixed. I can understand why you got it as an appetizer and a main dish.

What an HONOR to win that award. It is lovely and personalized, too. I hope you aren't burnt out on baseball by the time the season is over.

Nice you had such fun meals this week and the coffee and water really ended the meal nicely. Thanks for sharing your card, your award, your meal, and your coffee with us for T this Tuesday, dear Nancy.

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Please join us in the Pattie's Creations Tag Challenge - there are lovely DT tags for inspiration and Pattie gives away wonderful prizes! Hugz!

Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

A Covered Bridge, a Shotgun Wedding, Patton Wisdom, and Some Art

On our recent vaction, hubby and I got back to our historical marker seeking.  This time we visited the Clarkson Covered Bridge. It is super long and very cool.  We also found a website HERE that has a mapped out tour of Alabama where you can visit 7 in one day - a fun trip for a Fall weekend.  This is the only picture I took of the bridge. The day before, we visited the Patton Musuem at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and viewed Ft. Knox from as close as they will let you get. They say there is still a ton of gold in Ft. Knox - trillions of dollars worth.  We liked the Patton Museum.  I don't agree with most of Patton's management style, but do respect that he accomplished much.  I was impressed with some of his leadership statements like this one which I totally agree with: They have some fabulous items at the museum - hubby could have looked for hours and hours if I had let him. They have planes, tanks, and other vehicles there too so you can see exactly what ...
