Happy Mugs and Cards

Hello Friends,

I am late again for T-day over at Elizabeth's blog where we share a drink related item in our post (actual drink, movie, art, etc). Elizabeth is sharing tons of fun cat mugs in her post this week. I am sharing the happy GIANT mug I bought a few months ago. I use it for days when I need a lot of coffee - lol.

I needed a lot of coffee this past week. Hubby had his pacemaker battery replaced (it went well but he is hurting a bit from the incision), we had some bad news in the family, our washing machine died (they are delivering a new one today - yay), and we have been trying to get all our tax information together. Urgh!

I have done some more art and cards, of course. This first one is the Valentine's Day card I made for a farmer friend who farms cotton and loves to watch sunsets. I painted it using Daniel Smith watercolors and I cased THIS card from Amy Zepeda (she was the Featured Stamper this week at Splitcoaststampers.com).

This next one was sent to my son-in-law, Joey. I made it with an advertising card from the 1800s (I later found out it was actually valuable - lol). Joey coaches my grandsons' baseball teams and loves baseball. Inside is a Yogi Berra quote - "Love is the most important thing in the world but baseball is pretty good too." It was also for this week's CAS challenge on Splitcoaststampers.com.

I made this next one for this week's Art Nudge Challenge #225B. The inspiration photo is very steampunk with a giant heart and some fab colors - check it out HERE. The image is a digi from Vera Lane Studos and the papers are Stamperia.

My last card is my favorite from the week. It is the Valentine for my oldest grandson. It was inspired by THIS photo from the inspiration challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com. I sketched and painted it - he loves sardines/fish so I knew he would get a kick out of it.

The Sea, Words of Courage, and Some Ink/Watercolor

Hello friends, Last week felt like a stormy sea of its own with my husband recovering from recent hip replacement surgery and several friends and family members facing life battles - my heart was caught in the waves. Computer issues and lack of sleep didn't help. Mark 4:39-41 reminded me: even when the winds rage, Jesus is in the boat. He speaks peace over the chaos. “Peace, be still.” I needed that reminder. Several lovely Creative Worship Stamps sets were used in the making of this watercolored and inked BAJ page: The Sea (the boat and verse), Scene Silhouettes: Tall Grasses, and Have Courage . This page was stamped, then watercolored with Daniel Smith Watercolors. I finished it off with some Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Vintage Photo, Mustard Seed, and Ground Expresso), plus a little bit of Silver Stickles. Flowers, a Flag, and Some Wise Words

Hello Crafty Friends! I love Halle's theme at **Art*Journal*Journey* this month: Botanicals. So many possibilities... I combined the botanical theme with some of the colors in ARTNUDGE#725A and came up with this Bible Art Journal page focusing on 1 Timothy 2:1-2. I also made a patriotic prayer card too. In these verses, Paul tells Timothy (and all of us) to pray for everyone but he especially calls out prayer for kings and leaders. He indicates that this type of prayer could lead us to a tranquil and quite life in all godliness and dignity. I think we can all agree that the world needs much prayer right now and it is an easy step we can take. I experimented on this journal page. I usually cover any bible journal pages with gesso before painting on them, but I have issues with the gesso gumming up my Micron pens or unevenly taking color. This time I used Daniel Smith Ground Medium in Titanium White (I mixed it with 10 parts water). I loved it and will be using it in the fut...

Wise Words for Life's Storms

My first post as a Guest Designer for Creative Worship Stamps. This watercolor and ink card features one of my favorite CWS sentiments - Big God . I am so grateful He is there in storms and this stamp beautifully underscores His power. The main panel of this card is watercolor paper and was painted with Daniel Smith Watercolors and Liquid Ink (the white highlights in the rain drops). The words were stamped with black ink from Close to My Heart. Hugz, Nancy

You were really busy making beautiful cards (I only managed to make one...) and my favorite is the first one. The sardines are pretty cool as well. I hope that this week will be better for you than the last one.

These are all super cards. I love that Vera Lane steampunk guy, and the sardines too. An that cotton field is amazing. Wow, nice;y done Nancy. And that big mug for your coffee would also be great for T. And I love that it has a smile on it. Hope everything settles down for you this week. Hugs-Erika

Dear Nancy, big coffee mugs for LOTS of coffee are always good and important, and a smiley on them also puts you in a good mood. Hopefully your hubby's pain will soon be gone and he'll be fine again. You made some lovely cards. The sardine card is funny - my favourite is the steampunk card - I love steampunk!
