A View of the Future



Did I tell you I have become a Cheryl Alger groupie? You probably already figured it out, but I wanted to go ahead and admit it. My card today is for two challenges: Squigglefly - Summertime is Here AND Sassy Cheryl - Step Cards. I used Charlie's Relaxing Swim by Cheryl Alger which is available at Squigglefly and from Sassy Cheryl Digis.

Step cards and I don't get along really well. I made one a couple of years ago and it was painful for me for some reason (you can see it here - but this one was even more painful. I tried three times to make a fancy step card and ended up just going with a simple one instead. I think if I actually measured next time it would work better - LOL!

I had so much fun with this card - I used some fun stickers from K and Co and a SU! Edge Die.

Oh, I almost forgot...were you wondering about my title for this post? My youngest daughter Allie is going to start at UAB in the Fall (University of Alabama - Birmingham) and they have a lazy river the circles the fitness center. She swears she is going to get in that lazy river and study. When I saw this image, that was the first thing I thought off - LOL!

    Fabulous step card! Love everything about it (except I don't like to measure either). Congrats on your daughter going to UAB. At least it's nearby. :-)

    This is fabulous Nancy! I think the simple step design is perfect because it looks like she's going down one of those big water slides at a park! I just love all the elements you added too - wonderful waves and the perfect SPLASH sentiment!

    Aw, Nancy, this is adorable! I'll bet your daughter will love it! Your coloring is beautiful and I think your step card looks awesome! I have never tried to do one of those....sounds vewy scawy! hee

    This is just beautiful Nancy, and you may not be a fan on the step card, but you certainly did knock this one out of the ball park. LOVE IT!!!

    Your card is really cute, and I think you did a great job with the card fold. I had trouble too trying to make step cards, but I do enjoy making a "center" step card!

    That's so cute!! I love it...now we have four people submitting adorable cards using a tire...two with a inner tube, two with a tire swing...I can now tell what makes everyone think of summer time. This card is just so sweet. It sure does make me think of summer for sure. Cheers, Holley

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

 I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

A Covered Bridge, a Shotgun Wedding, Patton Wisdom, and Some Art

 On our recent vaction, hubby and I got back to our historical marker seeking.  This time we visited the Clarkson Covered Bridge. It is super long and very cool.  We also found a website HERE that has a mapped out tour of Alabama where you can visit 7 in one day - a fun trip for a Fall weekend.  This is the only picture I took of the bridge. The day before, we visited the Patton Musuem at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and viewed Ft. Knox from as close as they will let you get. They say there is still a ton of gold in Ft. Knox - trillions of dollars worth.  We liked the Patton Museum.  I don't agree with most of Patton's management style, but do respect that he accomplished much.  I was impressed with some of his leadership statements like this one which I totally agree with: They have some fabulous items at the museum - hubby could have looked for hours and hours if I had let him.
