Halloween Centerpiece

This past weekend I went to the CK convention in Jacksonville, Florida and met my sweet friend Carol. We have been friends for 4 years but had never met in person. She was exactly how I pictured her other than she was even more beautiful in person than on the little pictures that you see on blogs and SCS posts. She is so talented and I asked her to share some of how she comes up with her wonderful creations. She shared some ideas with me and we made two gorgeous creations. I can't wait until she posts them so you can see more of her wonderful work. We made a Halloween and a Christmas tabletop centerpiece using recycled items and dollar store finds. They were gorgeous! I decided I would try one on my own using some different items I found at the dollar store. Mine isn't as elegant or detailed but I like it anyway!

I purchased the box, the skeleton, box, pumpkins (I painted them white), and the candlestick at the Dollar Tree and Dollar General. I cut out the tree and spider using Tim Holtz dies and glittered them up with black glitter. Then I added some cool flowers I purchased on Etsy, a few die cut leaves, cheesecloth, and some ribbon. It didn't take much time, and it will look great on my table or work.


I am entering this in the Haunted Design House Challenge this week.

    Aaah Haaa look at this will you. I am so very very happy that I have inspired you!!! No I haven't posted the one we made. I am crunched for time on a mini album swap-wait until you see that, it's the one I told you is called "Colorless Mini Album. Anyway, I love the skeleton on this with the white pumpkins. It was brilliant to use the Tim Holtz tree-this is just exquisite. You did awesome and I am so proud of you.

    what a stunning creation .wonderful.. I am thinking of the idea that you had before creating it.. its so detailed..love that beautiful flower and painting on pumpkin..this black and white is absolutely superb...

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

 I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

A Covered Bridge, a Shotgun Wedding, Patton Wisdom, and Some Art

 On our recent vaction, hubby and I got back to our historical marker seeking.  This time we visited the Clarkson Covered Bridge. It is super long and very cool.  We also found a website HERE that has a mapped out tour of Alabama where you can visit 7 in one day - a fun trip for a Fall weekend.  This is the only picture I took of the bridge. The day before, we visited the Patton Musuem at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and viewed Ft. Knox from as close as they will let you get. They say there is still a ton of gold in Ft. Knox - trillions of dollars worth.  We liked the Patton Museum.  I don't agree with most of Patton's management style, but do respect that he accomplished much.  I was impressed with some of his leadership statements like this one which I totally agree with: They have some fabulous items at the museum - hubby could have looked for hours and hours if I had let him.
