Wicked BAJ and Winter Blues

This was the first weekend in a long time that I could pick to do whatever I wanted.  Of course, I crafted and finally started taking the Christmas tree down!

The inspiration challenge at Splitcoastampers.com was all about Hot Chocolate Designs' Pinterest Board - you can see it HERE.  The picture at the top middle right of the board cover that has lime green with black and white stripes  inspired me to finish up this Psalms 106 BAJ page.  I totally forgot I never really finished this page.  I previously drew Elphaba and the words Wickedly, but I didn't like what I had done and I and never colored them in.  This picture inspired me to finish it up with some Gouache paint and a Sharpie.

We are so wicked, and we behave wickedly now and throughout time.  So glad God forgives us.

When I read Wicked, I felt so convicted about judging people when I should not.  The story really underscores that you can't judge a person without knowing what they have lived through.  You may not even really know yourself - for instance, she didn't know who her real father was until she was older or why things happened to her until it was too late. I loved this book and I love how my page come out.  I am linking this to Erika's January theme of Favorite Things at **ART*JOURNAL*JOURNEY*.

Over at Try It On Tuesday everyone has the Winter Blues or is at least channeling them in their creations.  This was a great way for me to use up the last few sheets I had of the Stamperia Cosmos collection.  I love this paper, and used it to make hubby's Valentine.  This is the front:

I added on a wooden snowflake (Close To My Heart) that I inked up with SU! ink and splattered with white paint.  Also added a glittery You.  On the inside, I added the & You part of the glittery 3-D words (they were all melded together previously into You & Me).

Thanks for visiting!  Hope you are doing some fun creating.

Hugz,

Nancy

  1. Your Wicked page is amazing Nancy. That lime green is a great color. And so true about judging people. WE don't know until we walk in their shoes as the cliche goes. I haven't read the book Wicked, but I did see the play maybe 15 years ago. It was a good one. and I love the owl card. I am a little parialy to owls, but it all works together to make the perfect Winter Blues card. Thanks for joining us at Art Journal JOurney and also at Try It On Tuesday. Much appreciated my friend. Hugs-Erika

  2. You have a gift for doing journal pages. I'm trying right now to do a jounal of memories for the friend that I lost a few weeks ago. My journal is very simple compared to your fabulous work...but I still forgot how long it takes to make one. I'm making it for my dear friend's daughter.
Your cards are awesome. My Jim would really like something like that...because he's very fond of owls.

  10. I love your "Wicked". Impressed with your drawing skill. it is just a perfect Elpheba and looks absolutely fabulous on that lime green. The perfect colouring with the touch of red for her lips.
Then we come to the card - what a good idea - love the lettering and the owl is beautiful. Was on another blog recently and she had mentioned owls and I said we have one close by which we hear in the night but never see. How I would love to met her. I will make do with your owls, they are gorgeous and hubby will be well pleased with that card. Perfect for Valentines, masculine and not too sopppy. Love it.
    Hugs, Neet xx

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Please join us in the Pattie's Creations Tag Challenge - there are lovely DT tags for inspiration and Pattie gives away wonderful prizes! Hugz!
It's time for the New Release Blog Hop at Dude Time Doodles ! I am thrilled to show off Elmer Elf - just one of the four new images. I love them all and plan to make Christmas cards with every single one of them. Be sure and pick them up soon in the store if you like them because all the Dude Time Doodles Images will be retiring in the next few weeks - sniff, sniff! If you came to my blog from Sharon's amazing blog you can continue on to Mags who has another wonderful creation to show you. Dude Time Doodles blog hops are easy as you can hop on at any point and just continue around. Be sure and leave comments because one of the DT members is the mystery host/hostess and one of the commenters on their blog will win free images from the store. Hugz!!

A Bit of Tea, Horses, and a Cowboy

I love when my children follow in my footsteps and beyond (only the cool footsteps, of course).   My daughter, Allie, has developed a love of tea.  She sent me this picture over the weekend of her having tea in her newly remodelled bedroom.   She was drinking Breakfast in Paris tea in one of her favorite thrift store mugs.  This is my ticket to the T-day gathering over at Elizabeth's blog .  To join us, all you have to do is have a drink related post (can be any type of drink).   The neighborhood horses have been gathering in our backyard for some reason. Our horse refuses to come up near our house because the lady who owns all these horses gives her much better treats.  They all jump the fences and visit everyone.  The mule in the picture is actually named after me because I named one of cows after the neighbor (he paid me back - lol). I gave them apples when they came on Sunday, and they have come back every day since - lol....
