The Past is a Dangerous Muse

Hello crafty friends!   This Art Journal page was done for 4 challenges. Splitcoaststampers.com IC799 - Homebnc - thought I spent 10 minutes looking at fun stuff on that board, but it was an hour and 10 minutes! I pinned a bunch of great home ideas - wow. THIS PICTURE inspired my stenciling and the composition. Splitcoaststampers.com MMJ017 - Corrugated Cardboard Mixed Media. It is about time I made this since this was my turn at the challenge selection. LOL!  Mission Inspiration - a Facebook Challenge by Mike Deakin Art - this was for the mid month challenge prompt: Repeat - copy, reuse, repeat. I have three TH dolls, I repeated the stencil arrows three times, and I think the corrugated cardboard patterns, the scrabble tiles, and the two lines of border faux sewing work as well.   **ART*JOURNAL*JOURNEY* - single flower - that is why there is a giant flower on this page.  I think it adds interest.  It is the last day of the theme which was selected by Sheila.  I really enjoyed having

Cogs, Wrinkles, and other Mixed Media Fun

Hello crafty and inspiring friends. I know there has been radio silence from the kitchen counter, but I am here hiding in my craft room/office doing way too much overtime at work and not enough crafting! I have managed to get up a bit earlier and do a few art journal pages this week in-between work and dodging bad weather (we had multiple tornados in our area Wednesday and we actually left our house for better shelter).   First, I did Mike Deakin's Mission Impossible Art Journal challenge.  Three main colors,  5 main ingredients, and a machines/gears/cogs main focus for the challenge - be sure and check it out because his challenge announcements are so darn cool!   All my stamps are DRS Designs and I used ithe ink/spray/smash ink technique for the background and the squares plus some copper embossing and lots of distressing.  Cogs/gears/key are from Amazon, and I tucked in a Tim Holtz paper doll.  Love the words - so many deeper meanings.... I have so missed the **Art*Journal*Journ

Done is Better Philosophy

The new theme at **Art*Journal*Journey* is  A Single Flower and it was selected by Orange Esmeralda (Sheila).  This theme is inspiring to me because I don't use a lot of flowers in my creating, but I love them! Yesterday was stressful for me so I sat down after work and drew this hydrangea.  Then I water-colored it.   Once I was done, I was stuck on a background.  I started doing a pointillism background using a very tiny brush.   I saw this wonderful Dina Wakley Stencil the other day and it spoke to me!  Thanks to Amazon I got it in 24 hours! It seemed the perfect stencil for this page, but i struggled with the placement around the flower.  I still like how it came out and...done is better than perfect! Here is a card I made using the DRS Designs' Shamrock of Shamrocks and the new Blessings on St. Patrick's Day Greeting: I made the base with some stamping, masking and layering (5 stampings of the shamrock) and then popped up one more stamping of it.  I colored it all up w
