Multi-Mixed Media BAJ and Last of February Cards

Hello friends.

It has been super rainy in Central Alabama.  Lots of flooding and dreary days.  But we are thankful as droughts are no fun!

I really love this BAJ page from Psalms 27;13-14.  I need to hear these words.  I am much better at the waiting and not trying to take charge - I have been super bad at that the last 30 years.  Age and hubby (who waits for everything and is a slow as molasses) have mellowed me.
I was inspired by THIS tutorial/blog post by Preeti Dutt.  Oh my, I could watch videos and look at tutorials all day!  I guess it is a good thing I don't have a lot of time to do that!

I started with gesso on both pages of my bible.  Then I laid down some torn hymnal pages and did another layer of gesso.  Next was some texture paste and drywall tape.  After that dried, I let several lovely colors of watercolor and ink dribble down from the top of the page.  I sprayed them with water to get more movement.  The colors were from Splitcoaststampers.com color challenge this week:  Rich Razzleberry, Pretty Peacock, and Old Olive.  Also some of the colors mixed together and with some neutrals for a bit of contrast and aging.  Some white acrylic and left over water color splatters, a dusting with Perfect Pearls, and some stenciling in Razzleberry finished off the base.

The confidential stamp is from an insurance company.  It is very old and part of set I bought at a garage sale in Birmingham, AL.  I have the spinner it was on and 15 stamps.  I have to guard it because my youngest daughter really wants the set.  I remember I felt that way about my grandmother's ricer.  I still wish I had that ricer!

I typed up the verses, stamped on a few leaves and a few dragonflies (SU!), and added some lovely gears and a key.  I have the word heart in my scripture so I am linking this up as my last creation in the **ART*JOURNAL*JOURNEY* hearts theme.

I also did a second page in Psalms 26 using the same technique.
I also made a fun Easter card last night:
I used the ink/spray/smash technique for the background along with a diamond stencil and texture paste.  The image and sentiment are from DRS Designs:  Easter Sleepover and Medium Script Happy Easter.  Two little flowers and some Stickles finished it off.

It was a fun weekend.  We had two of young Grandsons the whole weekend - ages 2 and 4.  Lots of crafting, playing cars, and visiting the baby goats and cows at my Sister's.  Lewis, the 4 year old, loves to make cards.  He participated with me in the Splitcoaststampers.com Inspiration Challenge and created this lovely turle card.
He cut the turtle pieces (I had to trim them a tiny bit) and we used a pre-printed saying off a scrap paper in the stash bucket.  Lewis loves my stash bucket - he found the papers while digging through it.

Fun stuff.

Hugz and thanks for visiting!

  1. Love the beautiful art journaling in your Bible. Age certainly does make us more mellow and teach us patience! Great cards, too, glad you had fun with your grandkids. It's been very rainy here, too, sooner or later it must end! Hugs, Valerie

  4. Oh wow, Nancy. I can see why you created those backgrounds in your bible journal. The subtle and spring like colors are fabulous. I think we all mellow a bit with age, so your words certainly have meaning. I loved your two bible pages. They are extra special and so different. I was super impressed with how you thought outside the box and used the WORD heart to link to my theme at Art Journal Journey. Very creative.

Your cards are amazing, too. Such beauty in the Easter card and the turtle is simply fabulous.

  9. Those are such pretty Bible Journal pages. So delicate in colour that somehow just seems to be right for this.
I also like your Easter card, and I see you like diamonds too, my favourite stencil is the one I used on my blog.
    Blessings, Neet x

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day.  The paper in the middle is from the Stamperia Forest

A Martini, Peanut Butter Cupakes, and Art

Hello Friends. Today, I have an ecletic mix of drinks, dessert, and art. First, it's T-day somewhere in the world so time for a drink post which I am linking to Elizabeth's Blog - Altered Book Lover.  Last week we had a work related dinner.  When the waitress asked what I wanted to drink, I had a sudden craving for a martini.  I use to love them, but I guess my tastes have changed because I wasn't a fan.  I was a fan of the chips and dips though! And the day before, I brought my Sister's fabulous peanut butter cupcakes.  Mainly because I was craving them and couldn't ask her to make just one..... Over at **Art*Journal*Journey* Elle picked a theme of Books, Cats, and Tea (you can pick one, two or three of the items).  I did a Bible Journal Page in my Journaling Bible - Luke 13:24-25.  After a layer of Gesso, I took a Sharpie pen and drew the kitty, then the narrow door, and then colored the door with Arteza Brush pens. The verse was written with a Micron pen.  This

Milkshake Malt Porter and a Bit of Art

Hello friends and Happy T-day. It has been hit or miss with me lately on T-day posts. The remodel of our house next door has taken our mental and physical energy.  I think a few more weeks and things will be on the contractor instead of us.  Hopefully I will be back to normal by then. My Oldest Darling Daughter asked if we wanted to come for dinner Saturday.  Translation:  go to the store with me and we will bring part of dinner to your house and you cook the rest.  While at the store, I saw one 6 pack of this fun milkshake porter so, of course, I bought it.  It smells wonderful (a hint of chocolate and a hit of malt) and has a light creamy taste.  I would definitely buy it again if I see it.  My son-in-law did not like it, but he is more a  Miller Lite fan.  Now if this had been a whiskey, he would have been all over it.  LOL.  Linking this to Elizabeth's blog for the T-party gang. Darling Daughter had tried her hand at dried pintos, and she rocked them (I will begging for a rep
