Clocks, Chickens, and Teacups!

Hello crafty friends!

I am still enjoying not having the two hour daily commute and being able to spend it crafting, learning, and visiting blogs.  They have told us we will be going back August 1st.  Seems like a long time on one side and seems quick on the other.  I still think we are not all taking the precautions we need to.  Hubby is doing a show this weekend and I am so afraid for him - being around a lot of people who are touching his military items he has for sale is scary.  He still thinks he is Superman even though he is a high risk person (health issues).  I just know he wont be doing the right thing like wearing his mask at all times and using the hand sanitizer.  Urgh!!!!

I have a BAJ page done using the **ART*JOURNAL*JOURNEY* Stitch in Time theme.

Psalms 118:25 - I focused on just a few words - Lord Save Us.  We need saving on so many levels.  This Psalm speaks to just a few of them.

I used the SU! sets - Natural Beauty and Sense of Time.  I stamped the clock, gears, and words lightly on the page, and then stamped the inner clock again on a separate paper, fussy cut, and glued them down.  I stamped the flowers and birds on scraps done using the ink/spray/smash method.   I sponged the page, then added in some stenciling.  It still needed something, so I added in these cool 3-D stickers that I picked up at a garage sale.  They reminded me of clocks.  It is a chunky page, but I kind of like how it seems mixed up - goes well with the words.

I bought some new stamps from Rubbernecker after seeing Kittie's Farm Pop Up Box post.  I thought I might get the chickens and barn she used, but once I got there, I decided on a tractor stamp, a chicken coop stamp, the chicken motives, and the chicken die.  I bought a few other stamps that were on sale as well. The minute they came, I had to make something, of course!

Here is the BAJ page and the card I made.  The BAJ page is on Psalms 107: 35-38 - which speaks to how the Lord plans things for us.  He leads us to the right places for our cities and farms.  Some would argue that maybe we were led to the wrong place, but generally that is because we didn't listen or we aren't listening.

The BAJ is sponging, and doodling with the painted tractor (Arteza Gouache paints) and a sponged chicken.  The coop on the card is also painted with the Gouache paints and stamped again in the Misti.  The chickens are sponged.  I love using my Amazon boxes to make cards and have been using a lot of them lately.
Here is a picture of the card by itself.  I drew the framing around the sentiment to tie it in to the chicken coop better.  The die makes a lot of chickens so I added a few on top of the sentiment.  The BAJ and card were inspired by THIS fun picture of an old yellow building/house and done for the Splitcoaststampers.com Saturday Inspiration Challenge.
Here is a card I finished off Sunday and also made with part of an Amazon box. It was done for the Teapot Tuesday Challenge on Splitcoaststampers.com.  The cards to to individuals who need a bit of cheer.  The theme was things you need for a tea party.  I used a paper doily, sheet music, a tea bag, and some tea cups.
I started with a section of my Amazon Box, used gesso to attach some papers including butcher paper, tissue paper, sheet music, ribbon, and a a paper doily.  Did a few layers of gesso then stenciled on some thick white gesso using and Andy Skinner stencil.  Then I added some inks and paints misted with water.  Once that dried, I added the tea bag, did some ink distressing, and  gems.  The tea cups were stamped, painted with Gouache paints, and popped up too.  This was fun.  I am busy cutting up more boxes now.

Hope your week is going well.  Thanks so much for stopping by and visiting!

  2. I can relate to your worry about your husband Nancy. Mine has immunosuppression and still insists on going out. I hold my breath all the time. And your journal pages and cards are amazing as usual.I love the vintage look for AJJ, and the chickens. Something about chickens are quite comforting and old fashion even though I don't have any. And using those amazon boxes is a great idea. I have quite a few myself. Thanks for linking up to AJJ. Hugs-Erika

  7. I love the chickens. I love that saying about them crossing the road. It's a gem. But I think my favorite is the tractor. It's awesome. It's so beautiful and so timely, too. We are simply thrilled you shared this with us at Art Journal Journey, but the cards are incredible, too. When I see anything recycled, I love it.

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day.  The paper in the middle is from the Stamperia Forest

A Martini, Peanut Butter Cupakes, and Art

Hello Friends. Today, I have an ecletic mix of drinks, dessert, and art. First, it's T-day somewhere in the world so time for a drink post which I am linking to Elizabeth's Blog - Altered Book Lover.  Last week we had a work related dinner.  When the waitress asked what I wanted to drink, I had a sudden craving for a martini.  I use to love them, but I guess my tastes have changed because I wasn't a fan.  I was a fan of the chips and dips though! And the day before, I brought my Sister's fabulous peanut butter cupcakes.  Mainly because I was craving them and couldn't ask her to make just one..... Over at **Art*Journal*Journey* Elle picked a theme of Books, Cats, and Tea (you can pick one, two or three of the items).  I did a Bible Journal Page in my Journaling Bible - Luke 13:24-25.  After a layer of Gesso, I took a Sharpie pen and drew the kitty, then the narrow door, and then colored the door with Arteza Brush pens. The verse was written with a Micron pen.  This

Milkshake Malt Porter and a Bit of Art

Hello friends and Happy T-day. It has been hit or miss with me lately on T-day posts. The remodel of our house next door has taken our mental and physical energy.  I think a few more weeks and things will be on the contractor instead of us.  Hopefully I will be back to normal by then. My Oldest Darling Daughter asked if we wanted to come for dinner Saturday.  Translation:  go to the store with me and we will bring part of dinner to your house and you cook the rest.  While at the store, I saw one 6 pack of this fun milkshake porter so, of course, I bought it.  It smells wonderful (a hint of chocolate and a hit of malt) and has a light creamy taste.  I would definitely buy it again if I see it.  My son-in-law did not like it, but he is more a  Miller Lite fan.  Now if this had been a whiskey, he would have been all over it.  LOL.  Linking this to Elizabeth's blog for the T-party gang. Darling Daughter had tried her hand at dried pintos, and she rocked them (I will begging for a rep
