Stitching, Fairies, Boats, and Prayers

Hello Crafty Friends,

I have a collection of my BAJ and cards from this past week.  The firt two  BAJ pages are inspired by the **ART*JOURNAL*JOURNEY* June prompt -  A Stitch in Time.

My first BAJ page is Psalm 86 and 87.  I am desiring to focus more on God rather than the current state of problems in the world - especially here in the U.S.  Our time here is but a whisper if we are focused heavily on Him. Of course, I am asking Him to step in and show us how to solve the problems too.

Steps for this page:  gesso, ink spray, stenciling - new stencils (so fun)l; stamped, water-colored and fussy cut the lovely REDlead fairy (she is an angel here); journaling and then faux sewing.

The page next to the first page here is a page I did in April, but I added the stitching to tie the two pages better together.  I haven't previously posted this one.  The sea village image, sea grass and large words are  from DRS Designs.  There is a stencil in the background and some of my green spray and distressing somehow jumped over from the psalms 86 page.   

This next card and BAJ page  were inspired by the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com.  A lovely picture of leaves inspired me.  The background on the card is a tea bag glued to cardstock.  I am having so much fun with tea bags these days.  The leaves and sentiment are SU!  The tea bag is frm my friend, Teresa who drinks more tea than me although I have increased my tea intake after playing with these bags. 

My next card and BAJ page (Psalms 100 and 101) are done with the SU! Waterfront stamp set, and INK/SPRAY/SMASH technique on the card.  I cased THIS lovely card by Trudy (the featured stamper on Splitcoaststampers.com this week).

    I initially looked at your page and thought those were real stitches and then read they were faux :)

    What a great catch up post for me to catch up with - so many lovely pages. I think the leafy one is probably my favourite - and I love the coordinating card too. Sorry I've not been visiting much - busy with new stamp release - but hopefully getting back to normal for a while now.

    I like your philosophy Nancy - to focus on God and less on the challenges. And yes, I am sure when we focus on the solution, God will bring blessings to us as one of your Bible pages says. All such beautiful work. You are truly an authentic artist. The second and the third page touch me.

    I love the pages in your Bible Journalling, each one so different and with a message behind them all. I especially like the sea village one, so clean and crisp, reminds me of a walk along a road leading to the ocean.

The Sea, Words of Courage, and Some Ink/Watercolor

Hello friends, Last week felt like a stormy sea of its own with my husband recovering from recent hip replacement surgery and several friends and family members facing life battles - my heart was caught in the waves. Computer issues and lack of sleep didn't help. Mark 4:39-41 reminded me: even when the winds rage, Jesus is in the boat. He speaks peace over the chaos. “Peace, be still.” I needed that reminder. Several lovely Creative Worship Stamps sets were used in the making of this watercolored and inked BAJ page: The Sea (the boat and verse), Scene Silhouettes: Tall Grasses, and Have Courage . This page was stamped, then watercolored with Daniel Smith Watercolors. I finished it off with some Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Vintage Photo, Mustard Seed, and Ground Expresso), plus a little bit of Silver Stickles. Flowers, a Flag, and Some Wise Words

Hello Crafty Friends! I love Halle's theme at **Art*Journal*Journey* this month: Botanicals. So many possibilities... I combined the botanical theme with some of the colors in ARTNUDGE#725A and came up with this Bible Art Journal page focusing on 1 Timothy 2:1-2. I also made a patriotic prayer card too. In these verses, Paul tells Timothy (and all of us) to pray for everyone but he especially calls out prayer for kings and leaders. He indicates that this type of prayer could lead us to a tranquil and quite life in all godliness and dignity. I think we can all agree that the world needs much prayer right now and it is an easy step we can take.   I experimented on this journal page. I usually cover any bible journal pages with gesso before painting on them, but I have issues with the gesso gumming up my Micron pens or unevenly taking color. This time I used Daniel Smith Ground Medium in Titanium White (I mixed it with 10 parts water). I loved it and will be using it in the fut...

Wise Words for Life's Storms

 My first post as a Guest Designer for Creative Worship Stamps. This watercolor and ink card features one of my favorite CWS sentiments - Big God . I am so grateful He is there in storms and this stamp beautifully underscores His power. The main panel of this card is watercolor paper and was painted with Daniel Smith Watercolors and Liquid Ink (the white highlights in the rain drops).
