Winter Scenes BAJ

Thanksgiving is tomorrow, and I have to tell you there are lots of things I am thankful for this year. No matter what we think of C-19, it has made us more grateful for things large and small.  We were running through life before without any thought to most things like being able to by toilet paper at the last minute or eating out or spending time with family and friends.  We often took our health for granted as well. I am hoping that we (I especially), carry some of that gratefulness over into future years once things improve. 

One of the things that I have really enjoyed during this pandemic is that I have totally fallen in love with journaling in my Bible and learning mixed media techniques from very talented people in virtual groups I never knew existed like **Art*Journal*Journey*and Try it on Tuesday. Also, I have grown closer to the Mixed Media addicts on Splitcoaststampers.com.  You all inspire me so much, and you have helped me stay sane during these trying times and home isolation.

When checking out some of my favorite blogs this week, I saw some awesome Winter Wonderland creations done in response to the Try it on Tuesday prompt.  I was inspired to create these two BAJ pages in Proverbs.

I used Gouache colors on this one. Several layers of blues and greens and white plus some SnowTex all over, and Stickles on the tree, The snowman is an older Tim Holtz die, but I drew in his face similar to the new dies.  The page I did in my bible is Proverbs 26/-27 and I focused on 27:19.  

I also did a quick page next to this one using various inks and the SU! Snowfront set and a bit of water distressing in the sky to mimic snow. 

I added in some red birds for my last page in Wendy's Bird prompt for **Art*Journal*Journey*.  I focused on a few different verses in Proverbs 26.

Lastly, I always see everyone posting pictures of their favorite drink or mug so I thought I would share mine for this morning along with a sideways view of my Journaling Bible.

I finally finished Psalms and you can see it really shows up right in the middle of my Bible.  The cup is filled with Folgers Noir coffee with no creamer (I am still doing Whole30).

    Lovely words on the first page. I agree, the heart reflects the person. I am also so grateful for all the wisdom that the Pandemic has brought with it. Love your post - the best so far in blogland. The second page is lovely too. I see lots of calm in your through your art. Is that true?

    Two lovely journal pages, Nancy. I like the whimsy of the snowman/snow person, but the trees are what drew me to the second Psalm. Two beautiful scenes. I adore how you added the red birds because they added that pop of color that was so special when you looked at the overall entry. It's also a very special and wonderful entry for Wendy's theme at Art Journal Journey, too. Thanks for these beauties.

The Sea, Words of Courage, and Some Ink/Watercolor

Hello friends, Last week felt like a stormy sea of its own with my husband recovering from recent hip replacement surgery and several friends and family members facing life battles - my heart was caught in the waves. Computer issues and lack of sleep didn't help. Mark 4:39-41 reminded me: even when the winds rage, Jesus is in the boat. He speaks peace over the chaos. “Peace, be still.” I needed that reminder. Several lovely Creative Worship Stamps sets were used in the making of this watercolored and inked BAJ page: The Sea (the boat and verse), Scene Silhouettes: Tall Grasses, and Have Courage . This page was stamped, then watercolored with Daniel Smith Watercolors. I finished it off with some Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Vintage Photo, Mustard Seed, and Ground Expresso), plus a little bit of Silver Stickles. Flowers, a Flag, and Some Wise Words

Hello Crafty Friends! I love Halle's theme at **Art*Journal*Journey* this month: Botanicals. So many possibilities... I combined the botanical theme with some of the colors in ARTNUDGE#725A and came up with this Bible Art Journal page focusing on 1 Timothy 2:1-2. I also made a patriotic prayer card too. In these verses, Paul tells Timothy (and all of us) to pray for everyone but he especially calls out prayer for kings and leaders. He indicates that this type of prayer could lead us to a tranquil and quite life in all godliness and dignity. I think we can all agree that the world needs much prayer right now and it is an easy step we can take.   I experimented on this journal page. I usually cover any bible journal pages with gesso before painting on them, but I have issues with the gesso gumming up my Micron pens or unevenly taking color. This time I used Daniel Smith Ground Medium in Titanium White (I mixed it with 10 parts water). I loved it and will be using it in the fut...

Wise Words for Life's Storms

 My first post as a Guest Designer for Creative Worship Stamps. This watercolor and ink card features one of my favorite CWS sentiments - Big God . I am so grateful He is there in storms and this stamp beautifully underscores His power. The main panel of this card is watercolor paper and was painted with Daniel Smith Watercolors and Liquid Ink (the white highlights in the rain drops). The words were stamped with black ink from Close to My Heart. Hugz, Nancy
