Reflecting on the Possibility of Daily Miracles

 Hello all.

This past week was a bit tough - I am glad it is over!  I was missing my Mom and Pop, tackled a little clean out of Pop's things (emphasis on the word little), my oven broke, my daughter's car had major problems (such a hassle), hubby and I caught a cold, I gained two pounds (went off my diet since I didn't feel well), I am struggling to adjust to a new sleep mask (always hard to get used to new ones), and work has been super busy.

I know I still have it good though and have lots of blessings so I am trying to stay positive and that is what my latest journal page is all about.  Every day holds the possibility of a miracle.  We have to believe that in these times.

This page has some of my favorites things: a key from my Pop's house, stamps, tea bags, tea, paint, Snowtex, and texture so I am linking this to Erika's Favorite Things theme at **Art*Journal*Journey*.  Also linking to Try It on Tuesday's Add a Positive Quote theme.

The base of this is gesso, old tea bags, gesso, sprinkling of tea leaves, gesso, brown paint, off white paint, blue paint, white paint, stamped Script Font stamp from DRS Designs with TH vintage photo distress ink,  stamped snowflake background in TH distress oxide broken china, and finish with a splatter with Snowtex.  The tea leaves give it such cool texture.

I was inspired to do this page from THIS card by DebbieinOC at Splitcoaststampers.com (she is this week's Featured Stamper) and THIS fun Splitcoasstampers.com Inspiration Challenge item by Kath from Simon Says Design Team. They key from Pops' house also inspired me as he was a miracle to my family.

Here are a few cards I made recently.

Easel card with DRS Designs Bitsy Bubble Bee, Flower Hearts, and Bee My Valentine images.

Quick embossed card with the same images s the easel card:

Quick CAS card with the new It's Freezin' Season Greeting and Silhouette Snowman image - both are new from DRS Designs.

Hope you are playing with some of your favorite things!

Hugz,

Nancy

  1. Wow, Nancy. Every time I visit, I realize why I don't create cards. These are stunning. That last one is gorgeous, but both BEEs are simply incredible.

Speaking of incredible is your journal page. It is a real beauty and has such incredible meaning to you, too. I can almost feel the texture through my computer screen. It's simply stunning, dear. Thank you, also for sharing this beauty (and your cards) with us at Art Journal Journey.

  5. Your cards and journal page are wonderful. I'm not a great scrapbooker...but from time to time I have made gift books with pictures and memories... . I lost a long time dear friend last week. we were friends since we were both 17 yrs of age. I am just heart broken. I was trying to think of something to do in her memory and I have decided to do a memory books with pictures of some of things that we have shared, and make a copy of it for her daughter.

  6. Sorry to hear about your tough week Nancy. Take solace in the fact we all have those weeks, and I do hope this week is better. I have to say your page is just amazing. I love how you could use Pop's key on it. That makes it special, including all the other favorite things you used. And your cards are also great. Those bee stamps are adorable! Take care and let's hope this week those 2 pounds disappear quickly (and maybe a few more) as well as your cold disappears. Hugs-Erika

  11. I don't think I have a favourite colour but I do so often gravitate to blue. So your page is ticking all the boxes for me, it is blue, it has texture and a key. I so often use numbers and I love watching the birds outside and who does not like leaves - all of those things plus the lovely quote you have chosen adds up to a 12 out of ten from me. Lovely!
In contrast is that brightly coloured Valentine card - the bee on the circle. Would you mind if I copied the idea and made one for my other half this February? I love bees and have lots of bee stamps, in fact as I write this I have a small bee pendant and ear rings on and there is a card fussy cut out bee on the trolley besides me. I love this card. The others are lovely too and I do like the sentiment on the winter one.
Hope all the bad things have gone away or been solved and that the diet is firmly back on (I started one on Wednesday). Hope you both are feeling the colds are disappearing too.
    Hugs, Neet xx

Forest Goodies and Other Projects

Hello Crafty Friends. I just got the Stamperia Forest Paper and Die Cuts in the mail so I had to play with them right away.   I have a combo creation - journal page and card.  On the journal page I used my 6x6 Dina Wakley Journal and laid a base of gesso.  I then used Dina's pastel crayons and some SU! inks and stamps.  Also added in some TH Dress Ink in Vintage Photo since I don't know how to make anything without it  (seriously).   The eagle is a Stamperia Forest die cut and is coated with gesso.  Did a bit of stenciling and distressing to finish the page off.  I am linking this the the **Art*Journal*Journey* September Texture Theme (last day - can't wait to see what October's Theme will be).  The die cut and the little smears add texture to the already very textured page.   I love the blue and green together and was inspired to made a quick card for my Son-in-law who cut down some tree limbs for us the other day.  The paper in the middle is from the Stamperia Forest

A Martini, Peanut Butter Cupakes, and Art

Hello Friends. Today, I have an ecletic mix of drinks, dessert, and art. First, it's T-day somewhere in the world so time for a drink post which I am linking to Elizabeth's Blog - Altered Book Lover.  Last week we had a work related dinner.  When the waitress asked what I wanted to drink, I had a sudden craving for a martini.  I use to love them, but I guess my tastes have changed because I wasn't a fan.  I was a fan of the chips and dips though! And the day before, I brought my Sister's fabulous peanut butter cupcakes.  Mainly because I was craving them and couldn't ask her to make just one..... Over at **Art*Journal*Journey* Elle picked a theme of Books, Cats, and Tea (you can pick one, two or three of the items).  I did a Bible Journal Page in my Journaling Bible - Luke 13:24-25.  After a layer of Gesso, I took a Sharpie pen and drew the kitty, then the narrow door, and then colored the door with Arteza Brush pens. The verse was written with a Micron pen.  This

Milkshake Malt Porter and a Bit of Art

Hello friends and Happy T-day. It has been hit or miss with me lately on T-day posts. The remodel of our house next door has taken our mental and physical energy.  I think a few more weeks and things will be on the contractor instead of us.  Hopefully I will be back to normal by then. My Oldest Darling Daughter asked if we wanted to come for dinner Saturday.  Translation:  go to the store with me and we will bring part of dinner to your house and you cook the rest.  While at the store, I saw one 6 pack of this fun milkshake porter so, of course, I bought it.  It smells wonderful (a hint of chocolate and a hit of malt) and has a light creamy taste.  I would definitely buy it again if I see it.  My son-in-law did not like it, but he is more a  Miller Lite fan.  Now if this had been a whiskey, he would have been all over it.  LOL.  Linking this to Elizabeth's blog for the T-party gang. Darling Daughter had tried her hand at dried pintos, and she rocked them (I will begging for a rep
