Quality Time, a Blind Tiger, and Collateral Damage

 Happy T-day a day late. 

I am a day earlier than last week so maybe I will be on time next week.

I am joining my T-day friends T-day friends over at Elizabeth's Blog and sharing a drink.  This one is a Sugar Free Blind Tiger - much better than the sugar free and fat free one I had last week (yuck).  I drank this lovely drink last Friday while reading a library book and waiting for my daughter. 

I had another one yesterday while helping my grandsons read library books. They had ice cream and read 2 books a piece. Then we went to the pizza place across the street and they read 2 more each during lunch. 

I am doing Grandma's Reading Camp again this year. One day a week, we go to the library and pick out books. They get points for every book they read (more points for harder books). Points equal money at the end of the summer.  I do this to try and keep their reading skills fresh. They are 7 and 8 years old so keeping those skills up is super important. They read all the books, so we took them back and got more. They always start off so good - dragging me to the library.  In a few weeks, it will be the other way around...

I have a goal this year of reading 100 books. I am on track per Goodreads. The one in this picture was very good. 

Some cards/art from this past week:

This was for the SCS MIX challenge.  The challenge was to use Mixed Media and to include a bee (or not).  I painted a little bee right above the flowers. The large pail is a stamp from Stamping Up! Country Flowers (my new favorite set). I sketched the remained and used watercolors.

This one was from the Monday SCS CAS challenge - Let the Sun In.  I used Sharpie and watercolors for this dock scene from the Gulf Coast.  The Hello Gorgeous is from Close to My Heart. 

This last one was done for the SCS Featured Stamper challenge. I used watercolors on a SU! image and stamped some of the leaves before it could dry.  I painted in more leaves and then embossed the white flowers and the sentiment (the sentiment is from Close to My Heart).

    Happy Wednesday morning Nancy. I'm glad you made it to T again. And I' love that reading camp idea. What a great thing your library is doing, and how cool that points equal money.     WOW, Nancy, 100 books - you emulate the Alcatraz prisoners ;-DD (I learned from the audio guide on our trip in 2012 that the prisoners there read an average of 75 to 100 books a year. I've never forgotten that, because at the time I was far from retired, hated my job and thought that the prisoners on this beautiful island with the hummingbirds, gardening and lots of books had it better than I did in my hated office... and I wasn't a criminal ;-DD) Great cards - the one with the door is particularly pretty - reminds me of Greece or Italy... And your drink looks good too, what's in the blind tiger? It's great that you're encouraging your grandsons to read!

    Like others, I had never heard of a Blind Tiger, but I sure like the idea you are taking those boys to the library. Young people don't read much anymore and they certainly don't spell correctly because of social media where everything is truncated. I'm definitely proud of you for doing this.

    The card with the bee is beautiful. I used to have lots of bees in my garden. I haven't seen any the last two years. The same goes for butterflies.

    I especially like the sympathy card. It is beautiful and I'm sure the recipient will know they are special when they receive it.

    Thanks for sharing your drink, the library trip, and your amazing cards with us for T this week, dear Nancy. BTW, did you ever receive your ATC and postcards from the swap?

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Stamps, Books, Found Relatives, and More Food

 Don't you love getting new stuff?  This is my fun new stuff from  Red Lead Paperworks .   I ordered the fun vintage looking deer stamp and the three Christmas greetings - all were on sale a few weeks ago.  I love getting their packages because they always send some extra little goodies like collage sheets and old tickets plus even their packaging is cute and reusable.  The sheet with the leaves and acorns on the bottom is the other side of the invoice so you can reuse it as well.  I can't wait to play with these fun goodies.  Here is a look at my current reading pile.  I checked Basil's War by Stephen Hunter from the library, my daughter lent me The Paper Palace, and I bought The Host, Going Back to Petrey, and The Lady in Blue from the Thrift Store.
