Fall Flowers and Santa is Coming


The other day, I noticed that the bushes that frame our entrance at work still had the dead blooms on them but they were still pretty.  There was still some dew on them so they seemed to sparkle.  I decided I would try to recreate one of them on this birthday card for one of my fav paper crafters.  I cased a card by the very talented  Joan Ervin which you can find here:

I really like how this came out - used the Martha Stewart small Hydrangea punch to make the flower.  I layered 4 sizes of Spellbinders circle die cuts with stamping dimensionals.  Then I pushed each flower down into a small foam cushion with a stylus so they popped out.  Next I glued all the little flowers to the stacked circles.  A sprinkle of sugar glitter, dazzling diamonds glitter, and Ice Stickles made the flower really shine although the sparkles don't show up well on the flowers.

I got the idea at a SU! party but couldn't figure out the Santas. I found this great blog with super directions::

Patti is a fun paper crafter - I am so glad I found her blog. The candy holder will fit a Hershey's nugget and can be made as follows:  cut a 6 1/4 by 2 1/4 inch strip of card stock.  Score at 1 inch, 3 1/4 inches, and  5 1/4 inches, fold and adhere the 1 inch base tabs with glue or other strong adhesive.  Can't wait to give these out at work around Christmas!

    Still loving the hydrangea card and the snowmen are too cute!! Love the one with the embossed beard.

    Oh my gosh, those snowman boxes are absolutely adorable!! What a great project, Nancy. I'll have to bookmark these--I know I'll want to refer to your photo later. :)

    Wowzers on your card to honor Joan...just fabulous. Love the hydrangea and the beautiful colors that fit perfectly into a Fall theme.
    The Santa boxes are too cute. Your co-workers are going to ooh and ah.

The Sea, Words of Courage, and Some Ink/Watercolor

Hello friends, Last week felt like a stormy sea of its own with my husband recovering from recent hip replacement surgery and several friends and family members facing life battles - my heart was caught in the waves. Several lovely Creative Worship Stamps sets were used in the making of this watercolored and inked BAJ page: The Sea (the boat and verse), Scene Silhouettes: Tall Grasses, and Have Courage . This page was stamped, then watercolored with Daniel Smith Watercolors. I finished it off with some Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Vintage Photo, Mustard Seed, and Ground Expresso), plus a little bit of Silver Stickles. Flowers, a Flag, and Some Wise Words

Hello Crafty Friends! I love Halle's theme at **Art*Journal*Journey* this month: Botanicals. So many possibilities... I combined the botanical theme with some of the colors in ARTNUDGE#725A and came up with this Bible Art Journal page focusing on 1 Timothy 2:1-2. I also made a patriotic prayer card too. In these verses, Paul tells Timothy (and all of us) to pray for everyone but he especially calls out prayer for kings and leaders. He indicates that this type of prayer could lead us to a tranquil and quite life in all godliness and dignity. I think we can all agree that the world needs much prayer right now and it is an easy step we can take.   I experimented on this journal page. I usually cover any bible journal pages with gesso before painting on them, but I have issues with the gesso gumming up my Micron pens or unevenly taking color. This time I used Daniel Smith Ground Medium in Titanium White (I mixed it with 10 parts water). I loved it and will be using it in the fut...

Wise Words for Life's Storms

 My first post as a Guest Designer for Creative Worship Stamps. This watercolor and ink card features one of my favorite CWS sentiments - Big God . I am so grateful He is there in storms and this stamp beautifully underscores His power. The main panel of this card is watercolor paper and was painted with Daniel Smith Watercolors and Liquid Ink (the white highlights in the rain drops).
