Sweet Wishes for Stefanie

My sweet niece Stefanie (and her husband Josh, of course) will soon be having a little one. Sweet little Logan is due in February. Josh is a big hunter so I wanted to make a card for next week's shower that incorporated camo in it. I love this little House Mouse image - I think every card I have made with it came out unbelievably cute.

This week's House Mouse and Friends Challenge (#110) is to make a card with something old and something new. My camo paper is new and my great nephew will be really new too. Also, the Twisted Sister Challenge is to make a card with something new but no pink (I cheated and used pink on a part of the pacifier).

I used the following on this card:
*House Mouse Monica with Pacifer Stamp
*Spellbinders Circle Die and Scalloped Circle Die
*Prima flowers
*Martha Stewart Branch Punch
*Marks Finest Papers - dark chocolate ribbon
*Stampin' UP! Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive
*Hobby Lobby Paper Studio camo designer paper
*Glossy Accents
*Ranger Diamond Stickles
*Copic Markers
*Feather

I get to make my favorite pimento cheese recipe for the shower next weekend. I will post a picture when I make the sandwiches for 80 next week. Here is my recipe:

1 cup of shredded cheddar
1 cup of shredded American Cheese (I like the kind that is not individually wrapped)
1/4 up shredded Parmesan Cheese
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon of pepper
1/2 teaspoon of Tabasco
large jar of chopped Pimentos, drained
3 eggs chopped
1/4 cup bacon bits
dash of sugar
Mix in enough mayonnaise to make the spread the consistency you like (I like Kraft for this recipe).

Hugz to all, but special hugz to Stefanie and Josh!

  7. How adorable, Nancy! I love that mouse with the HUGE pacifier. And, I bet that camo paper will be a huge hit with the dad-to-be.

A recipe to get me into trouble. I made the peanut clusters after Emily Keaton left a recipe on her blog. I surely gained weight eating those yummies over Christmas. Thanks, though. This sounds great.

  12. Wow. Love your house mouse card. I honestly thought that greenery was "real" or atleast a fake branch. I didn't know it was paper until I read your post... very pretty!

  13. Nancy, what a thoughtful, sweet way to include the 'hunter' in this baby card! I've never seen a camo baby card before! Maybe you'll be starting a trend. Who knows?

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Please join us in the Pattie's Creations Tag Challenge - there are lovely DT tags for inspiration and Pattie gives away wonderful prizes! Hugz!

Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

Two Cards and Two Drinks

Today's post includes two cards and two drinks, all of which have been on my kitchen counter. Feelng a bit lost in Wonderland lately - too much work at work and home.  Thought this card would be appropriate to give myself.   The base layer is teabag glued to some heavyweight white card stock.  I used gesso to add a few scraps of Alice paper from Stamperia (too hard to throw away any of it!), and then I added a thin layer of white gesso and some water colors.  A run though the Big Shot with an embossing folder and some splatters of tea and paint added more interest.  Making this base was a bit like a trip to Wonderland as it sort of made itself over a few days - lol. I fussy cut the cat and sentiment out of the Alice papers and stapled on a border to complete the look.  Isn't this cat the cutest? Over at DRS Designs, I posted this card made from these stamps: Happy Shark Killer Birthday Fishing Square The base on the card is a watercolor wash and the ta...
