A Shy Bear For Melissa

Thank you for joining us for the Squigglefly 'Shy Bears' Blog Hop. This hop is dedicated to Melissa Chettle and her son Justin. Melissa was a friend of Squigglefly Design Team member Charlene, and she died very unexpectedly at the end
of June - she was only 43 years young!

At the end of April, Melissa asked Charlene to make her a bunch of Shy Bears cards - any image, any theme, any colors . . . just Shy Bears because she loved them all! (In case you're not familiar with them, Shy Bears are a creation of Lynne Stansbery, a fabulous artist at Squigglefly. There is a whole section in the store, with so many fun images!) Sadly, Melissa didn't get the chance to see the cards that Charlene made.

Charlene wanted to do a special blog-hop and dedicate it to Melissa. The Squigglefly DT wanted to support Charlene as we all love Charlene and we all love Shy Bears.

Charlene has listed more info about Melissa on her personal post HERE. Please visit all the blogs and be sure to leave a comment. One lucky winner will receive 3 free Squigglefly images of their choice.

For my card, I have used Angel Bear.

You probably came to my blog from Tammy's blog and now it is time to see what Debbie created by clicking HERE.

Thanks for participating in our special tribute to Melissa. Hugz to all!

Flowers, a Flag, and Some Wise Words

Hello Crafty Friends! I love Halle's theme at **Art*Journal*Journey* this month: Botanicals. So many possibilities... I combined the botanical theme with some of the colors in ARTNUDGE#725A and came up with this Bible Art Journal page focusing on 1 Timothy 2:1-2. I also made a patriotic prayer card too. In these verses, Paul tells Timothy (and all of us) to pray for everyone but he especially calls out prayer for kings and leaders. He indicates that this type of prayer could lead us to a tranquil and quite life in all godliness and dignity. I think we can all agree that the world needs much prayer right now and it is an easy step we can take.   I experimented on this journal page. I usually cover any bible journal pages with gesso before painting on them, but I have issues with the gesso gumming up my Micron pens or unevenly taking color. This time I used Daniel Smith Ground Medium in Titanium White (I mixed it with 10 parts water). I loved it and will be using it in the fut...

Stamps, Books, Found Relatives, and More Food

Don't you love getting new stuff?  This is my fun new stuff from  Red Lead Paperworks .   I ordered the fun vintage looking deer stamp and the three Christmas greetings - all were on sale a few weeks ago.  I love getting their packages because they always send some extra little goodies like collage sheets and old tickets plus even their packaging is cute and reusable.  The sheet with the leaves and acorns on the bottom is the other side of the invoice so you can reuse it as well.  I can't wait to play with these fun goodies.  Here is a look at my current reading pile.  I checked Basil's War by Stephen Hunter from the library, my daughter lent me The Paper Palace, and I bought The Host, Going Back to Petrey, and The Lady in Blue from the Thrift Store. I am reading Basil's War and The Lady in Blue at the same time - something I really shouldn't do especially since both books are the kind that switch between stories every chapter.  Th...

Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....
