A Tag Book

I hate to admit it, but I am not fond of Anything But A Card challenges. It isn't that I don't like to make things besides cards or that I don't have lots of other ideas besides cards...but the idea that I can't make a card freezes the part of my brain that allows creativity to surface. That's my assessment of the problem anyway. I worked through it this week and this is what I came up with for the Sassy Cheryl Anything But a Card Challenge:


It is a little tag book I am going to complete this weekend for one of my friends. I am trying to get her to forgive me for forgetting her birthday this past Monday. I still have 3 of the little tag pages to complete, but I am going to have to get some shells today at the craft store to finish it off. I will give it to her when I take her to lunch (another forgive me ploy) this week. I have to admit I am birthday challenged. I have got to get a good plan together to correct this flaw!!! Tell me your plan because the older I get, the worse it gets. I have tried writing them down in a book and then I can't find the book or don't look in it. Remembering is out of the question completely! Bad me! I am entering the pages with Sassy Cheryl images on them in the Sassy Cheryl Anything But A Card Challenge (you still have a day or two to enter if you haven't already). The little girl on the beach is from The Girl Has Sass Collection and the girl with her arms wide open is Just Be Yourself Sally (you can get her from Sassy Cheryl or Squigglefly). The flowers I used on the tags are from The Paper Studio, handmade from MFT rolled roses die, and The Piece by Piece Etsy store (one of my favorite new places for flowers and little trinkets). I covered the kraft tags with old dictionary pages and used Modge Podge to make them more durable as my dictionary pages are starting to tear really easy as the book they are coming from is almost 100 years old (it was badly damaged and I got it for $1 at a thrift store).

Hope your weekend goes well. I am off to get ready for breakfast with my parents and then dorm décor shopping with Allie - only two more weeks until move-in day. She is sooo excited.

    Your just kidding us right??? I love love love your tags. They are so pretty. I think you have it in you but are just afraid to let it go. We'll remedy that situation soon in Jax....lol Really-these are gorgeous. I bet your tag book is going to be wonderful. If the tags are any indication to whats in store-it will be an amazing treat. I am taking a break from the Godzilla album...lol It's like make 42,000 cards all at once. My brain is fried. But I will give a sneak peek on my blog soon. I am now a paper engineer for sure with all the logistics I had to think about!!!!

    Your tags are fabulous and I'm sure your friend will be forgiving. I've been late with a card or two in my life and recently sent one months ahead (by mistake, of course). LOL

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

 I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

A Covered Bridge, a Shotgun Wedding, Patton Wisdom, and Some Art

 On our recent vaction, hubby and I got back to our historical marker seeking.  This time we visited the Clarkson Covered Bridge. It is super long and very cool.  We also found a website HERE that has a mapped out tour of Alabama where you can visit 7 in one day - a fun trip for a Fall weekend.  This is the only picture I took of the bridge. The day before, we visited the Patton Musuem at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and viewed Ft. Knox from as close as they will let you get. They say there is still a ton of gold in Ft. Knox - trillions of dollars worth.  We liked the Patton Museum.  I don't agree with most of Patton's management style, but do respect that he accomplished much.  I was impressed with some of his leadership statements like this one which I totally agree with: They have some fabulous items at the museum - hubby could have looked for hours and hours if I had let him.
