A Lampshade Redo and Some Flowers

A few weeks ago, I decided I was going to redo the lampshades in my den. I looked on Pinterest and found all kinds of great ideas. Here is one of my favorite ideas:

I finished it last weekend and just got around to posting the pictures. Here is my lampshade before:

It look a while to cut out all the fabric circles but I love how it came out! I cut like 500 circles out of the muslin/burlap look fabric, twisted them a bit and glued them on the lampshade with craft glue. Took about 4 hours total with my oldest daughter's help for about 1/2 that time. I am linking this up to the diyshowoff website - it is sooo cool!

Today I did the Queen for the Day and the Featured Stampers challenges on Split Coast Stampers. Here are my cards:


The first card is for the Queen for the Day (QFTD185) and HERE is Pat's card I cased. I also did this card for the MIX37 challenge on SCS which is to make gridirons on a die cut or stamped image. I did some flowers with gridirons and then I doodled some more of the flowers. I love how the flowers came out.

This last card is for the Featured Stamper challenge. Imastamper is the FS this week on SCS and THIS is the card I cased. I used MFPs, Glad Glads image and sentiment. Hope you are having a wonderful day!

    WOW Nancy!! I'm totally thrilled with that lampshade makeover!!! I'll bet it looks gorgeous when it's all lit up too! It looks way too cumbersome for my efforts, but I love what you did with it! Your cards are gorgeous too with such beautiful images and colors! You're a crafty genius hard at work:)

    Goodness, Nancy, you are really creating some wonderful things these days. It would probably take me six months to do that lampshade and who knows what it would look like when I finished.
    Love, love how you doodled on your QFTD card...must have been going to the mix challenge, too. It's super duper and so pretty. I saw and commented on the other gorgeous card on SCS.

    Gasp! Nancy! Your lampshade is gorgeous! Wow! It looks like so much work, but its simply beautiful!
    Speaking of beautiful, just look at those gorgeous flower cards that you created for your, "Queen of The Day" posts! I love the deep purple flowers you created and the pink is gorgeous against the soft yellow background.

    I know that its been a long time. I have a nasty autoimmune disease that I've been dealing with. I'm doing well right now.

    April, aren't you the busy gal! No supper getting made on that kitchen counter with all your projects and cards. LOVE the lampshade project, what a beautiful difference, just stunning. And both cards are such lovely colors and wonderful images.

    Wow, you're been extremely creative. The lamp shade is gorgeous, as are your cards. Love the deep purple of the first one and the fat tag background is perfect for the image on the second one.

    OMG Nancy that lampshade is STUNNING!!! Super jealous of it.
    I love your cards as well loving the rich plumb/purple colour you have used on your first card, but I love the shape of the second card, if I was one of your customers I would not be able to choose which card to buy, so I would have to get them all.
    Also can I just say - loving the name of your blog, and the fact that your creations are photographed on your kitchen counter.. brilliant idea.

    That lamp shade is awesome. It looks gorgeous-who knew right!!! Rags to riches is what I say. I love the thrift store for that....lol Your cards are gorgeous too. I love the shading, coloring, and texture. Just beautiful.

Unopened Mail And My Grocery List

We arrived back from our Las Vegas trip last night so the only thing on my Kitchen Counter is unopened mail and my grocery list.  I have looked up the recipes for most the great food we ate (or wish we ate) in Las Vegas including Bacon Waffles and Chicken and Waffles - so my counter top should look awesome tomorrow (or as soon as I get a waffle maker).  We had lots of fun in Las Vegas but not as much as Crystal and Joey.  If we were still 21 we would have had a blast!  No luck with gambling - but I only gained 1 pound which is a miracle!

Christmas Mice

Hello Crafty Friends, Today, I am playing in some fun challenges with this cute card: The current House-Mouse &Friends Monday Challenge HMFMC #461 is Anything Goes with an optional theme of Pastels. I have some pastel paper in my layers. This card was made with ornaments from a SU! set, a cut up sentiment from RedLead Paperworks, and three mice I cut out of the Spellbinders Sew Sweet stamp set. The background was inspired by Jeanne Streiff's MIX challenge on Splitcoaststampers.com last Friday where she asked us to make a background using a die cut as a stencil.

T is For 10 Years of T-Day, Too much food, and The Art (Always the Art)

Hello Friends. Most of today's post is about celebrating 10 years of Elizabeth hosting T-day parties on her blog .  If you have visited me before, you know that I regularily participate in T-day where we all post something about a drink of any type (the drink can be anything including water and the post can be a real drink, words, movies, art, etc.) on Tuesday (or Monday lol) and link it to Elizabeth's T-day blog post for the week.   This year Elizabeth is asking us to post several things in celebration of the big anniversary.   #1.   Post a picture of something that makes the number 10. I used 10 art supplies that were near me.  I am starting to make more Christmas cards so these were right at hand.  #2.   Post our regular T-day picture/post.  My drink picture today is a lunch we had in Tybee Island last week during our Georgia trip.  We ate at Pier 16 .  Great food and service.
