My First Creation with My New Sewing Machine

A Pattie's Creations, the newest challenge is Stitching - faux or real. I was thrilled as my Christmas present this year was a new sewing machine! I haven't sewed in almost 30 years so this new machine was a challenge. Part of my problem was that I attempted the fancy stiches before I tried to do a straight line - lol! My image is Dogwood Branch by Pattie and I colored it to match up with the tones of my paper using Tim Holtz ink and a sponge. I am sending this to a friend who needs a bit of cheer (send a prayer up for her if you think about it). Come join in the challenge so we can see your wonderful faux and real creations.

Hugz!

  1. Morning Nancy,

What a lovely card that you have made here.

  2. Pretty card! I'm jealous of that stitching. My sis gave me a new sewing machine about 4 yrs. ago and I used it once. Ugh!
Wish I could find time to master it. Guess I'm not much of a seamstress. Love your added heart and those pretty flowers.

  6. Nancy - I'd say you did a great job of stitching after 30 years of no sewing machine. I myself, gave my new machine to a neighbor, because it was just too technical for me. But, it was my very first sewing machine EVER!
Anyway, I love the tones you have stamped and the papers you have chosen!

  7. Very pretty. You did great with the stitching. I just seem to make a mess when I sew on my cards, for the most part. Love the papers and the burlap heart.

  10. It's beautiful! I love the burlap heart and the way you stitched it on there. I can't even do straight lines on my sewing machine, so I just let it look like I meant to do that.

Flowers, a Flag, and Some Wise Words

Hello Crafty Friends! I love Halle's theme at **Art*Journal*Journey* this month: Botanicals. So many possibilities... I combined the botanical theme with some of the colors in ARTNUDGE#725A and came up with this Bible Art Journal page focusing on 1 Timothy 2:1-2. I also made a patriotic prayer card too. In these verses, Paul tells Timothy (and all of us) to pray for everyone but he especially calls out prayer for kings and leaders. He indicates that this type of prayer could lead us to a tranquil and quite life in all godliness and dignity. I think we can all agree that the world needs much prayer right now and it is an easy step we can take.   I experimented on this journal page. I usually cover any bible journal pages with gesso before painting on them, but I have issues with the gesso gumming up my Micron pens or unevenly taking color. This time I used Daniel Smith Ground Medium in Titanium White (I mixed it with 10 parts water). I loved it and will be using it in the fut...

Wise Words for Life's Storms

My first post as a Guest Designer for Creative Worship Stamps. This watercolor and ink card features one of my favorite CWS sentiments - Big God . I am so grateful He is there in storms and this stamp beautifully underscores His power. The main panel of this card is watercolor paper and was painted with Daniel Smith Watercolors and Liquid Ink (the white highlights in the rain drops). The words were stamped with black ink from Close to My Heart. Hugz, Nancy
