Christmas At the Beach

DRS Designs is sponsoring Christmas Stampin' All Year Long this week so I wanted to play along in their weekly challenge.

In Alabama, most years Christmas isn't very cold. Actually, that is why I moved to Alabama.  I came to visit one year at Christmas and everyone was wearing shorts.  I had come from snow-covered and icy roads so I seemed like Heaven to me!  My Christmas card is all about the beach.

I used the new 4-in-1 Seashells and the Seaside Dock images from DRS Designs.  My background is some recycled cardboard painted with white acrylic paint.  My ornaments were made using the SU! Ornament punch, silver cording, and three SU! brads.  I tucked in some SU! Seam Binding and some little natural plant fibers out of one of my old floral arrangements.

If you would like to play along and get a few more Christmas cards done (remember it is just around the corner), the challenge is to use ribbon.

Hugz!!!

  12. The card and this post reminded me of all the Christmases in South Florida, where we ate dinner on the patio and wore shorts. We still try to have Christmas in So. Florida, and I love what you've done on this card. The corrugated bkground looked so 'beachy' with the white paint (and how great that you were able to recycle too). The added touches are just perfect for a beach theme, and bring back so many memories. Christmas is with your family, in the heart. Forget the snow! TFS &Hugs

Flowers, a Flag, and Some Wise Words

Hello Crafty Friends! I love Halle's theme at **Art*Journal*Journey* this month: Botanicals. So many possibilities... I combined the botanical theme with some of the colors in ARTNUDGE#725A and came up with this Bible Art Journal page focusing on 1 Timothy 2:1-2. I also made a patriotic prayer card too. In these verses, Paul tells Timothy (and all of us) to pray for everyone but he especially calls out prayer for kings and leaders. He indicates that this type of prayer could lead us to a tranquil and quite life in all godliness and dignity. I think we can all agree that the world needs much prayer right now and it is an easy step we can take.   I experimented on this journal page. I usually cover any bible journal pages with gesso before painting on them, but I have issues with the gesso gumming up my Micron pens or unevenly taking color. This time I used Daniel Smith Ground Medium in Titanium White (I mixed it with 10 parts water). I loved it and will be using it in the fut...

Wise Words for Life's Storms

My first post as a Guest Designer for Creative Worship Stamps. This watercolor and ink card features one of my favorite CWS sentiments - Big God . I am so grateful He is there in storms and this stamp beautifully underscores His power. The main panel of this card is watercolor paper and was painted with Daniel Smith Watercolors and Liquid Ink (the white highlights in the rain drops). The words were stamped with black ink from Close to My Heart. Hugz, Nancy
It's time for the New Release Blog Hop at Dude Time Doodles ! I am thrilled to show off Elmer Elf - just one of the four new images. I love them all and plan to make Christmas cards with every single one of them. Be sure and pick them up soon in the store if you like them because all the Dude Time Doodles Images will be retiring in the next few weeks - sniff, sniff! If you came to my blog from Sharon's amazing blog you can continue on to Mags who has another wonderful creation to show you. Dude Time Doodles blog hops are easy as you can hop on at any point and just continue around. Be sure and leave comments because one of the DT members is the mystery host/hostess and one of the commenters on their blog will win free images from the store. Hugz!!
