Thanksgiving and Christmas Wishes

I have been making some holiday tags and a few Christmas cards (I need to make a lot more Christmas cards!!!). 

I made this card for the Outlawz Paper A La Mode Challenge. This week's challenge is sponsored by Sassy Studio Designs and I used their Sweet as Holiday Pie image.  That pie was an adventure!!!  I messed up the coloring and then sponged it and messed that up so I covered it all in Stickles and it seemed to work!  You still have all week long to play in the Christmas Themed Paper A La Mode Challenge if you want to join us and have the chance to win one of the awesome Sassy Studio Designs images (I love them).


Have you checked out Loll's Twelve Tags of Christmas Event?  I have totally loved all the great mixed media tags everyone has been making!  I decided to play a bit too.  I made these two simple tags:


I took some corrugated cardboard and peeled off a layer.  I then painted it with some white acrylic paint (which I also dabbed on the SU! Wooden snowflakes too).  Then I stamped the DRS Designs Small Merry Christmas Greeting and made it into a small banner.  I added a little Stickles to the buttons on the left tage and some to the actual tag on the right.  Fun!

The tags were so fun, that I made a Thanksgiving Tag as well and then put it on a card:



I used the new DRS Designs Cattail Milk Pail image and fussy cut it after coloring it up.  I took some different corrugated cardboard (I collect all kinds of boxes- lol) and I painted it lightly with the brush leftover from my Christmas tags.  After the paint dried, I sponged on some TH Walnut Stain Distress Ink on the edges.  I then added some Bronze Gilding Wax to a bit of the edges and to the cattails along with some brown glitter pen.  Then I added a bit of white gel pen to highlight the leaves and the pail and added a piece of the DRS Designs Grateful Heart Thanksgiving Greeting as the sentiment.  Nestled the whole thing in some glitter straw and matted it.  I love tags!!!

Hope your weekend was wonderful and your week is going well.  I have had that horrible cold/sinus infection going around and it has really slowed me down.  I am on the back side of it and I am certainly glad of that!

    I always love everything that goes on your kitchen counter and these three are right up there with the best of everything. IF you did mess up the Stickles did a wonderful job of hiding it. It's just hard for me to believe you would mess anything up. Those tags are a gift in themselves and that last card is just amazingly gorgeous. Thanks for sharing these beauties with us today.

    You are so talented!! I LOVE your "pie card" ... beautiful design and colours ... and the pie looks DELICIOUS! And your thanksgiving card with the tag ... so dramatic with your dark colours ... you have such an eye for colour! Your two Christmas tags are adorable. LOVE the corrugated card backing ... and the scalloped edging. Perfect with the sweet snowflake embellishments and buttons / brads. This fits perfectly with today's tags which are rustic ... and also I CASEd one of your beautiful cards for my design.     These are all so beautiful, Nancy. I love the messed up pie, it looks so real. The corrugated card looks very antique. And the third card is awesome too. Love the natural frame.

    Wow! I love your corrugated snowflake tags and my jaw dropped when I saw the milk can card! The stained corrugated piece, fussy cut can and texture with the straw is amazing! I think it's one of the prettiest Thanksgiving cards I've seen! Sue (suen)

Unopened Mail And My Grocery List

We arrived back from our Las Vegas trip last night so the only thing on my Kitchen Counter is unopened mail and my grocery list.  I have looked up the recipes for most the great food we ate (or wish we ate) in Las Vegas including Bacon Waffles and Chicken and Waffles - so my counter top should look awesome tomorrow (or as soon as I get a waffle maker).  We had lots of fun in Las Vegas but not as much as Crystal and Joey.  If we were still 21 we would have had a blast!  No luck with gambling - but I only gained 1 pound which is a miracle!

Christmas Mice

Hello Crafty Friends, Today, I am playing in some fun challenges with this cute card: The current House-Mouse &Friends Monday Challenge HMFMC #461 is Anything Goes with an optional theme of Pastels. I have some pastel paper in my layers. This card was made with ornaments from a SU! set, a cut up sentiment from RedLead Paperworks, and three mice I cut out of the Spellbinders Sew Sweet stamp set. The background was inspired by Jeanne Streiff's MIX challenge on Splitcoaststampers.com last Friday where she asked us to make a background using a die cut as a stencil.

T is For 10 Years of T-Day, Too much food, and The Art (Always the Art)

Hello Friends. Most of today's post is about celebrating 10 years of Elizabeth hosting T-day parties on her blog .  If you have visited me before, you know that I regularily participate in T-day where we all post something about a drink of any type (the drink can be anything including water and the post can be a real drink, words, movies, art, etc.) on Tuesday (or Monday lol) and link it to Elizabeth's T-day blog post for the week.   This year Elizabeth is asking us to post several things in celebration of the big anniversary.   #1.   Post a picture of something that makes the number 10. I used 10 art supplies that were near me.  I am starting to make more Christmas cards so these were right at hand.  #2.   Post our regular T-day picture/post.  My drink picture today is a lunch we had in Tybee Island last week during our Georgia trip.  We ate at Pier 16 .  Great food and service.
