A Fancy Flower and a Snowflake

It is so wet in Central Alabama!  The rivers and creeks are overflowing and flooding houses and buildings, and a road near here even collapsed.  We are lucky that our house is up high, but the back part of our property is super wet and if we get much more rain our catfish pond will overflow and our fish will swim away.  There are three ponds in our neighborhood, and one year they all overflowed.  Some of the big bass from our neighbor's pond came ove,r and you never knew what you were going to catch out of our pond.

Now that year end is over at work and Christmas has passed, I am hoping to get more time to visit my blog friends and create more.  It has been really tough keeping up in the last month.

I have been drawn to CAS or crazy involved cards lately - no inbetween!

Here is a CAS card I made with the new Medium Filigree Snowflake and Warm Thoughts 1 Line Greeting.  This card was super easy and fast!  Just a bit of sponging with some torn paper towel and it was done.

And here is a crazy involved card made with my new favorite stamp, Ornate Corner Tile.  You could do so many things with this wonderful image.  This card is for the new DRS Designs Challenge that starts today.  The challenge is to pick any DRS Designs Challenge from 2015.  I picked #165 which is Flowers Abound.

I stamped a whole page of white paper with the image and I sponged the image with TH Distress ink, making sure to do the darker purple at the bottom of each. I fussy cut them and layered them up.  All my papers were white to begin with - I sponged them all so they would match perfectly.  I see so many possibilities for this new image!

Hope you have a great New Years and 2016 brings you multiple blessings.

Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Please join us in the Pattie's Creations Tag Challenge - there are lovely DT tags for inspiration and Pattie gives away wonderful prizes! Hugz!

Stamps, Books, Found Relatives, and More Food

Don't you love getting new stuff?  This is my fun new stuff from  Red Lead Paperworks .   I ordered the fun vintage looking deer stamp and the three Christmas greetings - all were on sale a few weeks ago.  I love getting their packages because they always send some extra little goodies like collage sheets and old tickets plus even their packaging is cute and reusable.  The sheet with the leaves and acorns on the bottom is the other side of the invoice so you can reuse it as well.  I can't wait to play with these fun goodies.  Here is a look at my current reading pile.  I checked Basil's War by Stephen Hunter from the library, my daughter lent me The Paper Palace, and I bought The Host, Going Back to Petrey, and The Lady in Blue from the Thrift Store. I am reading Basil's War and The Lady in Blue at the same time - something I really shouldn't do especially since both books are the kind that switch between stories every chapter.  Th...
