Sweet Candy Love Butterfly

At DRS Designs, this week's challenge is a color challenge based on sweet candy hearts.

The Design Team cards are soooo pretty - you need to check them out.

I promise my pinks really did start out matching the colors in the color block a lot better than they do in this picture.  The sponge I used for my pink sun rays had some yellow on it as did my stencil so the pink has a little yellow tint.  I call this adventurous creating, but really it is being too lazy to get a clean sponge or clean the sponge or buy more sponges or be careful with the sponge.

I die cut my butterfly and sponged it and then I stamped, sponged and cut out two Ornate Corner Tile images to put on the butterfly.  My sentiment is Hugs and Kisses Valentine's Greeting

These colors are so perfect for Valentine's.  Hope you will come play in the challenge too.

  3. This sounds like a post I would have written. The sponge drama - the life and times of a lazy artist. Ha ha ha... Personally, I think the yellow tint really goes here and makes the card look so cool! Love that it has a slight vintage vibe. What a cool design with the rays and I so love this layered butterfly! Gorgeous!!!

  7. A beautiful card Nancy, a fabulous background and gorgeous butterfly - such an inspired idea to use your ornate corners to decorate the butterfly.
I buy a huge bag of make-up sponges from our £ shop, they work out at about 5p each so I can have one for each colour ink.

  11. Wow, those ornate corners on the butterfly are very creative. And not cleaning the stencil only added character to your beautiful creation.

Flowers, a Flag, and Some Wise Words

Hello Crafty Friends! I love Halle's theme at **Art*Journal*Journey* this month: Botanicals. So many possibilities... I combined the botanical theme with some of the colors in ARTNUDGE#725A and came up with this Bible Art Journal page focusing on 1 Timothy 2:1-2. I also made a patriotic prayer card too. In these verses, Paul tells Timothy (and all of us) to pray for everyone but he especially calls out prayer for kings and leaders. He indicates that this type of prayer could lead us to a tranquil and quite life in all godliness and dignity. I think we can all agree that the world needs much prayer right now and it is an easy step we can take.   I experimented on this journal page. I usually cover any bible journal pages with gesso before painting on them, but I have issues with the gesso gumming up my Micron pens or unevenly taking color. This time I used Daniel Smith Ground Medium in Titanium White (I mixed it with 10 parts water). I loved it and will be using it in the fut...

Wise Words for Life's Storms

My first post as a Guest Designer for Creative Worship Stamps. This watercolor and ink card features one of my favorite CWS sentiments - Big God . I am so grateful He is there in storms and this stamp beautifully underscores His power. The main panel of this card is watercolor paper and was painted with Daniel Smith Watercolors and Liquid Ink (the white highlights in the rain drops). The words were stamped with black ink from Close to My Heart. Hugz, Nancy
It's time for the New Release Blog Hop at Dude Time Doodles ! I am thrilled to show off Elmer Elf - just one of the four new images. I love them all and plan to make Christmas cards with every single one of them. Be sure and pick them up soon in the store if you like them because all the Dude Time Doodles Images will be retiring in the next few weeks - sniff, sniff! If you came to my blog from Sharon's amazing blog you can continue on to Mags who has another wonderful creation to show you. Dude Time Doodles blog hops are easy as you can hop on at any point and just continue around. Be sure and leave comments because one of the DT members is the mystery host/hostess and one of the commenters on their blog will win free images from the store. Hugz!!
