A Sailboat and Some Kitties

The DRS Designs Challenge this week is a color challenge and here is the pallet:

This picture makes me feel refreshed just looking at it!

Here is my creation

Stamped the Sailboat image, sponged yellow on top and blue on bottom and edged with yellow all the way around.  Colored up my sails and boat with a paintbrush dipped in my inks.  Mixed up some white acrylic paint and recollections fine glitter to make my waves - the glitter added a lot of texture so I will be using this combination (more glitter) for snow on my winter cards this year.  I stamped on the You are My Sunshine sentiment as it seemed to fit this card the best of all my sentiments.  Took my scraps and stamped on some Lines of Plenty and stenciled on some of the leftover paint and glitter to make the little banners on the side.

Hope you are inspired by these colors and fun image.  Come play with us!

Made this card earlier in the week also using DRS Designs images, ink, and an animal print stencil.  This one is the opposite of my sailboat card as far as colors.

I stamped the new Ruler image (I love this one!!), the Happy Cat Sitting image, and the Walk on the Wild Side Birthday greeting.  I really like how the stenciling on the kitties came out.

Hope you are having a wonderful week!

  5. What a fun pair of cards! The paint/glitter combo makes your card look more like an oil painting than a card, and I love it! Great take on the photo inspiration! The kitties give a great message to the recipient too!

Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow). Please join us in the Pattie's Creations Tag Challenge - there are lovely DT tags for inspiration and Pattie gives away wonderful prizes! Hugz!

Stamps, Books, Found Relatives, and More Food

Don't you love getting new stuff?  This is my fun new stuff from  Red Lead Paperworks .   I ordered the fun vintage looking deer stamp and the three Christmas greetings - all were on sale a few weeks ago.  I love getting their packages because they always send some extra little goodies like collage sheets and old tickets plus even their packaging is cute and reusable.  The sheet with the leaves and acorns on the bottom is the other side of the invoice so you can reuse it as well.  I can't wait to play with these fun goodies.  Here is a look at my current reading pile.  I checked Basil's War by Stephen Hunter from the library, my daughter lent me The Paper Palace, and I bought The Host, Going Back to Petrey, and The Lady in Blue from the Thrift Store. I am reading Basil's War and The Lady in Blue at the same time - something I really shouldn't do especially since both books are the kind that switch between stories every chapter.  Th...
