Weekend Projects

I always show what is on my kitchen counter since I craft there, but today I want to show you what was on my kitchen table this weekend:


It is a Little Blue Truck painted on a giant 6 ft box.  It covers my super large kitchen table.  My daughter and I painted it this past weekend for my Grandson's 1st Birthday.  They are going to cut it out and use it for a picture prop at the party.  So fun!!!

I made a few cards this past weekend as well.  This one was for the Splitcoast Stampers Black/White Inspiration Challenge and the Fan Club Challenge for June/July:


This one is for the Outlawz Paper A La Mode challenge.  The image is from A Day for Daisies and is called Wedding Mum.  I sponged the bg and the images (I used three copies of the image).

    Nancy, that big blue truck for your grandson's 1st birthday is great!!! What a fun photo prop! You'll have to post a pic of your grandson with the prop.

    Beautiful cards too. I really like the black and white butterfly one. Those tiny flowers on the butterfly look gorgeous!

    That sympathy card looks sensational with the flowers on the butterfly's body! Gorgeous and so creative. I really like the wonderful colors and dimension on the floral card, and I just know that big car is going to be a hit at the party! So fun!

    Well that is one great photo backdrop. Love the license plate. LOL Your cards are beautiful but I am totally struck by the sympathy card. I would have never thought to use the flowers on the butterfly, and now I see I should have thought of it because it is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing with us. Enjoy the evening.

    What a fabulous backdrop for pictures your car will make! I see that your daughter has inherited her mother's talent!!!
    Butterfly is lovely. Really creative use of the tiny flowers, makes this butterfly extra special.
    Sponging of the background and the flowers are awesome. Love the colors you chose. You have been a busy lady...........

Language Plays, Billiard Balls, and Some "Interesting" Wine

 I always look forward to the new **Art*Journal*Journey* Theme each month. The May theme was chosen by Elle and she chose Language as the theme. So many cool things you can do with that theme.  This weekend I chose to do the Language(s) of God in my Journaling Bible.  When I started, I was going to do Fasting as a way of speaking to God but after listening to a Sermon on Fasting, I realized that was more complicated and I would have to study it more first. So I switched gears midstream and just did some of ways that God speaks to us and vice versa.  There are many more, but I put the ones I could think of quickly here.   The papers are from an old hymnal and Close to My Heart (CTMH).  The gnome is CTMH as well.  Now I have played with all the gnomes in the set,and I totally love them. While looking for the hymnal paper, I ran across an old song book that I was saving.  It was damaged so I knew it would have to be recycled into something....

Stamps, Books, Found Relatives, and More Food

 Don't you love getting new stuff?  This is my fun new stuff from  Red Lead Paperworks .   I ordered the fun vintage looking deer stamp and the three Christmas greetings - all were on sale a few weeks ago.  I love getting their packages because they always send some extra little goodies like collage sheets and old tickets plus even their packaging is cute and reusable.  The sheet with the leaves and acorns on the bottom is the other side of the invoice so you can reuse it as well.  I can't wait to play with these fun goodies.  Here is a look at my current reading pile.  I checked Basil's War by Stephen Hunter from the library, my daughter lent me The Paper Palace, and I bought The Host, Going Back to Petrey, and The Lady in Blue from the Thrift Store. I am reading Basil's War and The Lady in Blue at the same time - something I really shouldn't do especially since both books are the kind that switch between stories every chapter.  Th...

Some Penguins

Today kicks off the newest Pattie's Creations Challenge which is Tags . Just Tags. No cards with Tags on or in them - just tags. I love to make just tags so this one was right up my alley. I used the super cute Penguin image from Pattie's Creations, but I couldn't stop at just one so I made a little penguin family. My tag is made from an old cardboard box top which I peeled down, painted, distressed a bit, and then added some snow medium. My bow is actually a new bow designed by Pamela Lehto (available at Squigglefly tomorrow).
